first real update in a while...

I'm back home... for good.

No more USM for me. I'm not sure where I'm going to go, but Portland really isn't an option. There is a lot I'm going to miss about that place. The best thai place I've ever been. A fantastic coffee shop around the bend. The Nick. Bull Moose. Video Port. Casablanca Comics. A convenience store within a block. The sound of the city, hum of the traffic. The lights in the city when I go to bed.

I won't miss the ridiculous RAs. Or living in a room with three other guys. Or sharing a bathroom with Brandon, even though he's a great roommate. People asking me to borrow my movies so they don't have to pay the two or three bucks down at video port, and their feeling that they can return them to me at any time they want, in any condition it fits them. Sharing an internet connection.

It's hard to tell where I go from here, but I know something. Wherever it is that I go, I'm confident that I will succeed. And I'm going to do things the way that I want to. If I write a script, or want to make a movie, I'm going to do it the way that I want to. When it comes to the arts, I don't like compromising with people I don't know.

Revenge of the Sith opens up in just a few short days. I find it both exciting and sad. I'm excited because it looks as though the movie is going to be incredible. I'm sad because the odds are greatly in favor that this is going to be the last Star Wars movie I ever get to see in the theaters. I know I'll probably see this movie a ton in the theaters (some even if it isn't very good, a ton if it is), but it's still the ending of a great series, and no matter how many kick ass video games that come out attempting to duplicate the world, its culture, etc, it will never compare. I grew up on Star Wars. When I was young, I lived Star Wars. I've probably seen the original trilogy close to 100 times between watching it on my own, and the tons of times I've seen them on TV. I haven't seen the newer ones quite as many times, but oh well. I'm excited to for the new one to come out of DVD as well, just so I can watch them all back to back to back to back to back to back. As much as I want to see the stories continued, to see what happened to Luke and Leia, Chewey and Han, 3PO and R2, I know that this really will finish off the series. I'll have a review for you (no spoilers) by the end of the week.

I've got a lot ahead of me this week. Cleaning my room out, continuing to unpack, getting back in contact with Alex, having "the chat" with Dad, and searching for a job, not to mention the beggining stages of looking at local schools.

I'm reading a good book right now. It's called "How the Light Gets In" and it was written by M.J. Hyland. I've got a great idea for a short story in my head, as well as what I know would be an awesome video game. That's it for now.
