...but as of yesterday I've accepted a job offer that could very well launch the rest of my career. I've got 15-17 years to make a difference, and, from what I've been able to glean, I've got a very good chance at doing so.
IT's been a LONG road - one upon which I needed to, literally, go ON the road to make ends meet.
When I first made my account here on LJ, I was driving a truck for a living. I made good money at it, but then taxes went up, etc, and it was costing me money to even start the motor, so I moved on.
I took a few jobs doing factory work, teaching electronics, etc, then working outside for the phone company installing their TV and internet offerings, then I destroyed my back on the job. I'll never not be in pain for the rest of my life, but that's not why I'm writing this - it's not the story I want to tell.
All the years since the Corps when I was in IT.. I didn't have a degree, so I guess I was un-hirable. That's changing, apparently, because from what I overheard when the mics were hot on the ZOOM interview is that they WANTED me. I don't know what, on my resume, it was that got them to desire me so strongly, but they offered a package that I couldn't turn down.
So, as of Yesterday, 13OCT2021, I'm employed in IT... now I wait on my company equipment to arrive.
