Tonight's Film: The Black Cat (1934)
How had I never seen The Black Cat before? Amazing film! A giant Art Deco castle with beautiful women kept in the basement preserved in formaldehyde, Satan worshippers, and Bela Lugosi attempting to peel Boris Karloff's skin off slowly. And that's not even everything in this gothic masterpiece. One of the films being shown on Criterion as part of their Universal Horror films on this month.
Sticking with the Karloff, I followed that up with an episode of Thriller entitled, "The Ordeal of Dr. Cordell," Starring Robert Vaughn. "In a lab mishap, chemist Dr. Frank Cordell is exposed to an experimental gas that causes him to turn into a homicidal maniac when he hears the sound of ringing bells." He goes on to kill a few co-eds.
All the while enjoying a Hot Toddy. I love this time of year...
