This Afternoon's Film: Melancholia

This came recommended, and what a recommendation! I loved it. From the opening sequence over Wagner's, "Tristan and Isolde." (Perhaps my favorite part?) to the inevitable, and to me at least, satisfying conclusion. How has this movie eluded me until today? How have I not seen it? When it was recommended I checked the web, and once again Ebert's review was absolutely perfect. The film has a particular resonance given the pandemic. But, outside of that, on a personal level, there is a lot here to identify with, to think about. I'll be adding this to the permanent collection.
