Tonight's Film: Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel

Feb 11, 2021 17:00

I have a friend who turned me on to the new Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix, and now Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. (I have no hesitations in calling her an expert in such things.) All of this has been perfect pandemic watching, and I'm eternally grateful.

Even though it's four hours and broken up into parts, I'm classifying this as a straight-up documentary, not a "docuseries" or tv show. This thing was way too long. Could have easily made it two hours and accomplished the same thing. But, as mentioned, I get it, it's the middle of winter, during a pandemic, so, why not?

It took a turn at the end I didn't see coming and became this weird anti-online-bullying-don't-believe-all-the-crazy-shit-on-the-internet thing. As for the mystery itself, this is the fist program or website I've seen that gives a convincing answer to what might have happened.

(Side-note that doesn't have anything to do with anything, I've been to the bookstore mentioned and it was pretty good!)

And no matter how many times I see that video of her in the elevator...so creepy and disturbing...
