Been a little bit of a frantic Monday, right from when I got up. Slept good though. Closed the window and door, pulled the light blocking curtains. Tried to make the room a black void. Worked for the most part. I slept better.
Checked my email as soon as my feet hit the floor. Already emails about the job this week. With my work, in the old world, as soon as I took a job I was theirs. They rent me by the day. But not to the extent as in the new world. Yes, I would sometimes literally live on the client site for a week or more, have all my meals there, live in a bubble. But outside of that was my time was, for the most part. I might have some pre-read or whatever, but it was minimal. Now, as soon as I say yes to a job it seems like I'm theirs. Morning, noon, night, whenever. Body and soul. I'm trying to manage this, but...it's a work in progress. I'm careful about what I agree to. More than I used to be.
I spent the morning reviewing Zoom and Miro, which will be the two platforms I'll be working most in this week. I think I prefer Microsoft Teams, but, it's the wild west, everyone doing everything different. So, did some housekeeping, made sure the accounts are updated and ready. Reviewed some of the pre-read material. I have a few 30 page decks to go through, and a video, but that's all going to wait until after the Chelsea match at 2:15. Before that I need to order and pick-up Mexican. Special (late) lunch for a special day. First match of the season!
My goal today was to split the pre-work for this week in two. Do half before the Chelsea, and half after. I've been successful so far. The mind-numbingly boring stuff is for after the match. All the pre-reads. I'm facilitating a group this week, so I need to know what they're talking about, learn the nomenclature, get generally familiar with what they're talking about and what they're there to work on. I'm not a SME (subject matter expert), never will be, but I need to know enough to sound like I know what I'm talking about. It's an art.
Also, I thought about buying
this house.
So. That's today.
Go Chelsea!
