Tonight's Film: The Oscar

So, why would I not only spend an evening watching what most consider to be one of the worst films ever made, but buy it on Blu-ray? Harlan Ellison, that's why. Harlan Ellison is one of my all-time favorite writers. This, for better or worse, was the only feature film he ever wrote. It's been out of print for decades. It's been one of those holy grail films for me. I'd heard it was horrible (and it was), but Harlan wrote it, and that alone made it worth not only seeing, but owning. So I bought it as a present to myself for my birthday. There is a an audio commentary with Patton Oswalt, Josh Olson and Erik Nelson, all FoH (Friends of Harlan). That's how I watched it tonight. It's an absolutely bonkers movie. Camp, over the top, over-acted...the sets...it's a mess. And I loved it. Fun way to spend the night.
