Today's Film: Station West
Yet another Criterion western noir. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time. I'm a huge Dick Powell fan. Some good supporting actors, like a very smarmy Raymond Burr, and Jane Greer as the femme fatale. Solid picture, if not great. Could just as easily have been set in modern 1940s, but like how it's a full-on western with all the trimmings. The fight scene at the beginning is especially visceral, with some handheld, which I thought very progressive considering when this was made.
