here are my oscars predictions & thoughts

i am so obsessed with the oscars. cannot wait to tweet the night away with you loves! bolded is who i WANT to win and i will add my silly comments.

Actor in a Leading Role
Javier Bardem in “Biutiful”
Jeff Bridges in “True Grit”
Jesse Eisenberg in “The Social Network”
Colin Firth in “The King's Speech”
James Franco in “127 Hours”

Colin Firth: seriously if Colin Firth does not win, there is something wrong with the world. i have never seen a performance quite like it. i forgot i was watching a movie. i felt like i was watched the actual king george VI. unreal performance. he is amazing.

other nominees: for some reason i feel like jeff bridges in true grit wasn't that much of a stretch. i feel like a greasy bearded alcoholic is what comes easily, idk why! he just isn't glamorous lol. he still did a great job though. and i loved him in tron, which i think was more of a stretch for him. jesse eisenberg did a good job, but come on it was NOT oscar worthy. i haven't seen biutiful b/c it did not play here and i cannot find it online, so i cannot comment on javier bardem. as for runner up in the category, i'd have to pick james franco. if colin firth wasn't in it this year, i'd pick franco.

other comments: mark wahlberg should have been nominated for the fighter.

Actor in a Supporting Role
Christian Bale in “The Fighter”
John Hawkes in “Winter's Bone”
Jeremy Renner in “The Town”
Mark Ruffalo in “The Kids Are All Right”
Geoffrey Rush in “The King's Speech”

Christian Bale: I think this was Christian Bale's best performance ever. he is already one of my favourite actors, but he was scary as dicky in the fighter. he was so skinny. and every time i hear him accept an award, i'm like omg he has an accident i forgot! b/c he always plays american characters. he deserves this the most.

other nominees: i saw all of these movies and i have to say all of these nominees are worthy. my runner up would be jeremy renner in "the town." i feel like the town was kind of forgotten about. it was one of my favourite movies of the year, and renner did a great job! mark ruffalo is my crush of the moment. def his best performance ever in the kids are all right. can't they all win?! lol. hawkes and rush were good too, but overshadowed by the rest.

Actress in a Leading Role
Annette Bening in “The Kids Are All Right”
Nicole Kidman in “Rabbit Hole”
Jennifer Lawrence in “Winter's Bone”
Natalie Portman in “Black Swan”
Michelle Williams in “Blue Valentine

Natalie Portman: she should win hands down. her performance in black swan was captivating and second to none. you can tell she worked extremelly hard, i mean she danced so well and she was so thin. and she was pretty good at faking an orgasm (hahah jk.) this shouldn't even be a contest. she was unreal.

other nominees: bening did a great job in the kids are all right. she's amazing and she was perfect for her part. i think her best movie was american beauty though. nicole kidman was impressive in rabbit hole. jennifer lawrence is getting a lot of buzz. she did an extremely good job in winter's bone even though it's not really mind kind of movie. she would be my runner up! and michelle williams is up there too. i'm glad she was nominated!

Actress in a Supporting Role
Amy Adams in “The Fighter”
Helena Bonham Carter in “The King's Speech”
Melissa Leo in “The Fighter”
Hailee Steinfeld in “True Grit”
Jacki Weaver in “Animal Kingdom”

melissa leo: this one is tough! i loved both melissa leo in the fighter. when i was watching it, i remember thinking who is this woman (leo)? before the noms cam out. b/c she did a spectacular job. i heard she campaigned for herself in some weird way and they were saying it might cost her the oscar. why should that matter....it should be about who gave the best performance, and i have to say it was her.

other nominees: amy adams did an unreal job, she really did. my favourite scene is when she starts the fight. or when she tells the sisters to stop calling her an mtv girls. it seemed a little bit out of character for adams, b/c i think of her as a classy princess type. she is my runner up! helena bonham carter also did amazing. i used to dislike her and thought she only got spots in movies b/c she's tim burton's wife. but she has grown on me, and i think she was the perfect pick for the king's speech. hailee steinfeld had a spectacular performance in true grit too. leave it to the oscars to find random people, nominate them and then you never heard from them again (like the girl who played precious last year.) i'll be surprised if this girl is ever nom'ed again.

Animated Feature Film
“How to Train Your Dragon” Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois
“The Illusionist” Sylvain Chomet
“Toy Story 3” Lee Unkrich

another tough one b/c i love how to train your dragon! one of my fav movies of the year, but toy story 3 was the best.

Directing
“Black Swan” Darren Aronofsky
“The Fighter” David O. Russell
“The King's Speech” Tom Hooper
“The Social Network” David Fincher
“True Grit” Joel Coen and Ethan Coen

i don't know much about directing b/c i just like to watch movies for the purpose of watching movies. sometimes i don't even care if they're good or not. so i'm not going to predict here b/c i really don't know.

Best Picture
“Black Swan” Mike Medavoy, Brian Oliver and Scott Franklin, Producers
“The Fighter” David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Mark Wahlberg, Producers
“Inception” Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan, Producers
“The Kids Are All Right” Gary Gilbert, Jeffrey Levy-Hinte and Celine Rattray, Producers
“The King's Speech” Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin, Producers
“127 Hours” Christian Colson, Danny Boyle and John Smithson, Producers
“The Social Network” Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca and Ceán Chaffin, Producers
“Toy Story 3” Darla K. Anderson, Producer
“True Grit” Scott Rudin, Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, Producers
“Winter's Bone" Anne Rosellini and Alix Madigan-Yorkin, Producers

The Fighter: i'm just going with my favourite movie of the year. i hope the oscars agree.

other nominees: i made it a point to watch them all this year. b/c last year i hadn't seen the hurt locker and it ended up winning. these were all superb movies. inception seems to be the crowd favourite. everyone loved it when they saw it including me. black swan is amazing. the king's speech is another classic. the kids are all right is cute and different. should probably win for best original screenplay. the social network was really good, but i was kinda pissed that it won the golden globe. it's not good enough to win an oscar imo. true grit was cute. and winter's bone was not my cup of tea.
