Mysore Dussehra

By any account , the week gone by was an eventful one. Visited mysore. Was there for two days (oct 12 and 13). It was a two-fold and hectic mysore visit. The first priority was to witness the Dussehra Festivities @ Mysore and the second (the lesser) priority was to visit places in & around mysore(Chamundi Hills, Brindavan Garden, Sri Ranga Patanam ).

Dussehra Festivites : Dussehra in mysore is celebrated with so much pomp and gaiety , that it resembles the Republic Day Parade of Delhi. All kinds of "jhaakis" were a part of the procession. The procession is fondly called JUMBO Savari and rightly so coz its jumbo on scale and the obscenely jeweled elephants that are seen all the time.I called them obscenely jeweled just coz i envy them ..i wish i had those jewels

In and around mysore : Happened to visit Chamundi hills , Brindavan garden and Sri Ranga Patanam(Tipu Sultan's abode). Mom enjoyed each of them. Chamundi Hill coz of the religious angle..Brindavan coz of the greenery and dancing musical fountain (From one of my earlier visits to mysore ,I remebered it was yuck. But this time I realized its not that bad actually .. )

The sore points
  • coz of the Dussehra, we could not manage an entry into the Mysore Palace.Had to be content by only seeing it from outside. And i must say, that was amazing enough !!
  • coz of lack of time , cud not take mom to Mysore Silk Emporium . (also thank god for the same...saved some big money ;-) )
