TAXI!!!

May 07, 2005 14:55

I received my hack license on Saturday, and I started with a Cab on Monday. Here's a breakdown of how everything went.

Monday: Picked up a cab from Victory Garage at 3pm. It was a 2002 Crown Vic. The inside was god awful filthy, spent 30 minutes just cleaning it up, ten bucks on gas, and got moving around 3:45. My first ever fare was from Bensonhurst to East New York. $15 on my first ever fare. I think thats good luck. Throughout the course of the day the back tires gave me some spin problems, what with the rain and all, but so far it was a nice, safe first day. With a fare back to Brooklyn to seal it off @ 2AM.

Tuesday: Picked up the cab around 4:45, this one a 2003 model with a full tank. My only qualm was the real loose steering (which of course, out of ford, it is expected). but otherwise the car was sweet. The day went by alright, got less and less nervous, and business got better and better. Turned her in @ 3AM.

Wednesday: Smooth sailings in a 2002 model. Had my first Jersey fare out of 41st. Real cool people in the city. It's not even 10% as bad as I thought it would be. Other cab drivers are funny though. When your neck and neck at a red light, they can smile at you and make a comment about how good or how bad the days going. But they'll still cut you off without thinking twice. Heh, asses.

Thursday: Had to take a day off 'cuz Vick, Dave, Ralph, and Emilio thought they everything was sweet and they could win pool games, had to make sure they weren't getting too cocky. ::brushes shoulder::

Friday: Didn't get my cab until 5:30, fifteen bucks off my bill, so it's good. The monkey who had the cab before me went shopping (came out carrying grocery bags) and left loose receipt paper and sliced up trip sheets on the passenger and driver door compartments, its a good thing I only had two frontseaters ride today. Took 4 irish people to the Bronx, real cool people. The lady showed me how to get on the Deegan and her directions were the most precise ever, even through her accent. and a $9 tip, sweet. Got another fare to Fort Green in Brooklyn, after which I talked to the dispatchers @ a garage on Bergen street. It seems like a way cool place. I might have to drop Victory.

Today: I'm Leaving at about 4 to pick up tonights cab, I hope I don't get the one I used last night. We'll see
