My co-worker's wife is looking for more participants for a research study in the CMU psych department. Participants will be asked to use a math tutor program that deals with a kind of modified algebra. Here is a copy of the e-mail he wrote. In the three sessions I took part in, I made approximately 75 dollars, which is pretty good for the short time I spent there. They don't need to film you or record you speaking, just that you use the program, and then answer some questions afterwards.
Hi,
we are looking for participants for a study with our tutor on algebra-like problems. We investigate different types of instructions and which version helps students most to learn this kind of problems. The study consists out of 3 session. Each session should take about 1 to 2 hours (mostely about 1 hour). Sesions should be arranged within about one week and best not one after another at one day. We pay either $5 per half hour or a benefit out of the tutor for solving problems correctly (we take the higher amount...).
Knowing much algebra is not required since the tutor presents instructions for all problems to be solved. Understanding the English instructions is needed. The study will run from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. the next weeks.
If you're in the Pittsburgh area and would like to help out and make a couple bucks in the process, leave a comment or let me know.
