I was in Atlanta this past Friday. I saw the best band EVA play...SOCIAL FUCKING DISTORTION. It owned me. So much. You have no idea.
The first band was so kickass. I love the Dead 60s. I have for a while now. So, to see them play was really awesome. I felt bad for them though because this one handful of "hardass" people kept booing and flipping them off. The left side of the floor hated them, but the right side really liked them, so I bet it was an odd situation for them. They were killer though. I'm glad I saw them live...
The second band that played sucked so bad. I think they were called Bullets and Octane? Something like that. It was like Ville Valo joined Motley Crue. He looked sort of like him, but they were like 80s speed metal or something. And the dude kept shaking his ass, he wasn't a very good dancer. It was more comical than anything else.
I got really pissed off when Social Distortion came on. All of the drunks that booed the first two acts from the bar decided that they needed to be in the front row. And the crowd surged so bad...I'm pretty bruised up. Some bitch almost broke my hand too. But it's ok, I punched her in the back of the head a couple times. She also got a pretty hefty cursing too. Grr...
But Social Distortion was so awesome. I'm glad that I finally got to see them live. And Mike Ness...*sigh* Oh my. Oh my indeed. Beautiful. I got some really good pictures of him playing, I just hope they turn out. I'll try to post some if they do. I also got to see Lindsay, the girl I met at Horton Heat. We exchanged information, and we're going to try to keep in touch. She's cool.
Corey and I stayed in this ghetto little hotel right near the Tabernacle. Too bad it was also hosting the National Catholic Youth Council. Jesus. Literally. Everywhere. We rode and elevator with a nun. She had on an 80s shirt covered in fabric paint. It was so neat.
Saturday morning Corey and I decided to get up early and go downstairs and eat breakfast before checkout. We thought we'd be the only ones down there. Too bad. As soon as the elevator doors open, we heard a chorus of "HIIIII!!!", coming from about 200 or so Catholics. It was...crazy.
Good show though. I want to see them again. And again. And again. It couldn't have been better.
