I have this problem at work. A couple weeks ago, all of the other hostesses (ages range from 16-17, and one is 18) were caught eating at the host stand. I took my manager aside and told him that I never ate up there, and he believed me. A few days after they were caught, they found out a server named Rochelle was the one who "told on them" (she didn't even tattle, it was more like "Hey, they're doing this, and this is rude to the customers who walk in").
Well, so they all hate Rochelle at this point. I go up there around 4 to pick up my tips, and Lauren and Colleen are there (both 16). They had written out this letter to Rochelle that said things about how she has nappy hair, yellow teeth, bad makeup, etc. and were laughing about it, and saying they were going to leave it on the floor so she can find it herself. I'm thinking, what if a customer finds it? So I'm just standing there looking at them for a second, and then Rochelle walks by. I grab her arm and pull her aside, and then we walk outside so I can tell her the BS those hostesses are doing, or are about to do, whatever. Rochelle is pissed, as am I. Why did they have to take it this far? I may be wrong for tattling on the girls to Rochelle, but I felt bad for Rochelle. It IS rude to walk in a restaurant and have the hostesses just sit there with food in their mouths. It's disgusting. Not to even mention the mess it makes... and I say MAKES because it STILL HAPPENS. And now Colleen and Lauren, and some of the other hostesses are mad at me and won't even talk to me because I'm on "Rochelle's side" about all of this.
I have to open today at 3. My manager Brian has been pissed off lately, I think he got in a fight with Kendra, his wife, a bartender at our store. I'm scared to mention all this shit that happened, but do you think I should? Am I wrong for wanting to do that? Do you think it's wrong for them to be mad at me?
I just feel like high school didn't end for me. I want to just tell Brian to fire all of them, because they act too childish. I wish one of my friends would come and apply there, hint hint. Emily suggested I move to server, but I found out that they usually take home about $5 more per night than us. They do all the work and I don't think it's worth that... I may sound lazy but I'd rather do nothing for $40/night than run around busting my ass, getting yelled at by the managers if something goes wrong for $45.
I just wish they kept the age at fucking 18+.
