It was 7 in the morning, and Heechul was the first one there.

He was half asleep and walking around like a zombie; cleaning up some of the mess the others had missed yesterday and digging through the kitchen looking for something to wake him up.

He heard a knock against the glass walls of the daycare and jumped a bit; looking up to find Mrs. Cho waving sheepishly at him.

"Poor kid," he muttered, glancing at the little boy as he opened the door gently. It was pouring outside and he was wearing a yellow raincoat with matching boots. His mother, who was tall and slim, gave Chul a dazzling smile.

"He's a little sleepy," she warned, "but I have to go to work early today, I hope you don't mind."

He forced a smile, "Oh no, not at all. It's fine," he lied.

She kneeled down to meet Kyuhyun, who had dark circles around his eyes and pouted with his full lips. "Bye, baby, I'll see you later, okay?" she cooed, giving him a quick peck.

Kyuhyun tried to smile and gave her a small hug, "Bye-bye Mommy, I love you," he muttered, intertwining their pinkies and touching his toes with her own. Heechul gave a small smile, Kyuhyun and Mrs. Cho were a very close pair, they had everything from a secret handshake to their own language; it reminded him of himself with Jessica.

"Love you too, bye!" she said, waving to the both of them as she exited the daycare and shut the door behind her.

Kyuhyun stared up at Heechul, who laughed, "You look like a zombie," Chul teased.

"That makes the both of us, Hyung," he deadpanned, rubbing his eyes and making his way through the hallway and into the cubby-area to put away his lunch and coat.

Heechul gave a bitter chuckle and watched as he disappeared into the nap room, he sighed and covered his face with his hand, "Why does this kid have to be so fucking good at everything?" he whispered.

**

In the nap room, Kyuhyun walked around observing the large area. There were 18 little sleeping bags lying on the floor, all color-coded, and a small table at the far corner where a music box sat. He looked around for a chair and brought it up to the table, climbing onto it and up onto the table.

He turned the small silver dial and listened to the song; recognizing it, he began singing along.

"Chageun-chageun marheboseyo, narul jeongmal saranghalgo idaego..."

**

Tiffany came in through the back door, her hair was tied up in a messy bun and she wore distressed skinnies and an oversized hoodie. She slung her purse onto the lunch table in the office and there found Heechul; snacking on what looked to be half of a pumpkin pie. She gaped at him, "T-that..." she mumbled, shakily pointing her finger at the pie.

"What?" he snapped, licking his fork clean.

"... is Sungmin's pie."

Chul dropped his fork, "No."

Tiffany gulped loudly and nodded.

"Fuck."

"Y-you're screwed. He'll be looking for that during snack time, and if he sees that someone touched it--"

"No. No. Shut up. Shut up!" he mumbled defiantly, picking up his fork and running to the kitchen to put everything away. He grabbed his coat and cell phone before rushing out the back door, "I'm going to buy a replacement," he muttered lowly before slamming the door shut.

Tiffany straightened herself up and began to check around the daycare, making sure there was no trash on the floor or stains on the wall.

"Jichiji maeyo, himeul ne-oyo,
Jogum do ojyo, nareul nukkil su ijyo..."

She poked her head into the nap room, where the voice was coming from, and found Kyuhyun perched atop the table and holding the music box; kicking his feet and swaying side to side with the rhythm. She smiled, "Kyuhyun," she called, "get down from there, you might fall."

He looked up at her and smiled, "Okay!" he said, jumping cleanly off and trotting his way towards her.

"You're early today," she said as they walked side by side towards the play are in the middle of the facility.

"Yeah, I woke up early and kept bothering my mom so she slapped some clothes and a raincoat on me and told me to walk over here. I only live two blocks away, anyway," he said casually.

Tiffany widened her eyes and stared at him, "You're kidding."

"Yep."

She was taken aback and thought for a couple of seconds before laughing a little bit, "Kyuhyun, I hate to say this, but you're really good at lying."

Kyuhyun gave her his signature smirk, "I know."

She glared, "Don't take that for granted, you little brat."

Kyuhyun pouted and pretended to be hurt, "I'm telling my mommy on you!"

Tiff laughed and so did he; the other caretakers never really understood why Kyuhyun was so mature for his age. He was a math-whizz and one heck of a singer, Heechul and Yuri affectionately call him a "prodigy," to which Kyuhyun would smirk cockily and reply with a simple, "Yes. Yes I am."

Tiffany didn't seem to mind though, in fact, she kind of liked it. It was nice to have another "adult" in the daycare.

There was a knock on the door and Kyuhyun saw that it was Sungmin, he waved happily at him and Tiffany smiled; Sungmin seemed to be the only one able to bring the real kid out of Kyuhyun. They were best friends.

She opened the door and Sungmin jumped inside, pushing a red stuffed-fox in Kyuhyun's face, "Look what I got yesterday," he smiled.

Kyuhyun laughed.

"It reminded me of you so I gotted it!" Sungmin laughed and Kyuhyun took it from his hands to observe it for a second.

"So I'm a fox now?" he joked.

"Yes!"

Mrs. Lee laughed from behind them, "I'm running late, Minnie, I'll see you later! Love you!"

Sungmin blew her a messy kiss and waved goodbye, "Bye Mommy!!!"

Tiffany laughed and crouched down to give Sungmin a bear hug when her mom left, "You're sooooo cute!" she cooed. Sungmin giggled and nearly punched her in the face with the stuffed toy he was holding. "Look," he said.

The caretaker backed up a bit to take a good look at the stuffed toy and laughed, "Awww, it's so cute! Almost as cute as you, Minnie."

The latter stuck out his tongue and bit at it, smiling happily, "Thank you! I gotted it 'cause it reminds me of Kyu," he said, pouting suddenly, "he don't have a name, though."

"Sungmin, it's 'doesn't' not 'don't'," Kyuhyun corrected, making Sungmin stick his tongue out at him, "and maybe you should name it Yunnie."

Sungmin laughed, "Haaa~, you say that 'cause I always call you Yunnie!"

"Well it is supposed to remind you of me, right?" he pointed out, making Sungmin nod.

"Yunnie it is, then!"

Kyuhyun held his hand up to give Sungmin a high five. The other one jumped up to reach him, but instead tripped over Yunnie and fell flat on his face.

Sungmin began crying.

"K-K-KYUHYUN-AHH!" he bawled.

Kyuhyun laughed a little, "Be a man, Sungmin. Stop crying," he said, picking up the wailing boy and setting him on his feet.

"I-I don't WANNA!" Sungmin screamed, burying his face in his hands and sobbing even harder.

Kyuhyun sighed, "I'm sorry, Min. Stop crying, though!"

Tiffany frowned, "Minnie, Kyu's right. Stop crying!" she crouched down in front of the boy and pried his hands from his face. Kyuhyun just stood there stoically and watched. "Min, Min, it's okay," she cooed as the little boy began sobering up. There was an awkward silence, and all that was heard were Sungmin's slowing whimpers.

Kyuhyun took Sungmin's hand, "C'mon, let's go build a sandcastle outside," he mumbled, dragging Sungmin along with him.

"... okay, fine."
