Ryeowook watched from afar as Yesung-Hyung apologized to Jessica. "I'll fix it, Sweetie, I'll fix it," he kept assuring, and Ryeowook laughed a little because that probably wasn't going to happen. He quietly followed Yesung-Hyung to the kitchen where he found him asking Yuri to help him out with Heesica. She burst out laughing and Ryeowook jumped in his place a little bit, holding his turtle-shaped pillow closer against his body. He slowly peeped through the wall that separated the play area from the count of the large kitchen:
"I'm not gonna clean the thing for you, you're the one who did it!"
"But I don't know how to clean it off!"
Yuri began digging through the cabinets, pulling out a small sponge and a bar of laundry soap, "Use this, but go easy on the soap," she advised, pricking her ears up as the faint sound of Donghae and Hyukjae fighting resounded through the glass walls of the south wing, "I gotta go, this can't be good," Yuri nearly ran to the two boys and Yesung-Hyung watched her leave with a dumbstruck expression plastered onto his face.
Ryeowook stepped out slowly from behind the wall as the caretaker began running the sponge under the tap. Hyung didn't notice Ryeowook until he pulled gently at the legs of his pants.
Yesung looked down at Ryeowook and smiled sweetly, "Hi Wookie!" he greeted cheerily.
"Hyung," Ryeowook began quietly, "do you need help, Hyung?"
The taller man smiled, "Do you want to help me, Wookie-ah?"
The little toddler nodded.
Yesung smile grew even wider; he would never admit it, but Ryeowook was always his favorite kid.
Then again, there was Tiffany with Kyuhyun (and Sungmin).
Hangeng with Siwon (and Sungmin).
Heechul with Jessica (and Sungmin).
Eeteuk with Kangin (and Sungmin).
Yuri with Yoona (and Sungmin).
And Seohyeon with Taeyeon (... and Sungmin; hell, even he loved Sungmin).
And he had his excuses; Ryeowook was the smallest one there, even if he wasn't the youngest, and just so cute and cuddly. He was a good kid with great manners and etiquette, he was helpful and sweet. Ryeowook looked out for the caretakers as much as they did for him. There was one instance when Yuri tripped over one of Donghae's racecars and Ryeowook cleaned up her wound all by himself.
So Yesung found Ryeowook sitting on the counter next to him, carefully observing the way he would scrub the stain off bit by bit with the sponge.
"Don't wun it undahw da tap, Yesung-Hyung, Heesica-ssi will neva dwai," Ryeowook reminded him.
Yesung laughed, "Aigoo, you're right Ryeowook," he said smiling. He looked at the little boy and flicked some of the foam onto his nose, "what would I do without you?"
The boy turned a bright shade of pink and rubbed the soap off of his nose with his turtle pillow that Yesung had named for him; Ddangkkoma.
There was a sound of the water turning off and Yesung looked over the clean bear thoughtfully. "So how do we dry it, Ryeowook-ah?" he asked, stealing a quick glance at the latter before looking around the nursery for a decent place to put it.
"Outside wheow the sun is out," Ryeowook suggested quietly, "it'ow dwai fastow theow."
Yesung smiled, "Good idea."
Ryeowook followed Yesung outside to the yard where there was a large, empty table sitting under the sun, Ryeowook grabbed his Hyung's pants, "Theow, Hyung! Theow!" he said, leading him toward the table.
"Perfect!" Yesung exclaimed, lying Heesica on his back, "There, it should be dry by the end of the day, ne?"
Ryeowook nodded, "I'ow go teow Jessica!" he said, running quickly back into the play area inside; he scanned the premises and found her taking a nap on one of the bean bags in the corner, he laughed because nap-time was over more than three hours ago.
He began walking towards her and sat on the floor next to where she laid fast asleep. He watched her chest slowly rise and fall with rythym as he hesitated; gently poking her cheek, "Jessica~," he mumbled, "wakey-wakey! Heesica's dwai-ing atside!"
She groaned angrily and shifted in the large bag of foam beads, mumbling something about Heechul and settling back in.
Ryeowook stopped and tried again, shaking her furiously and screaming at the top of his lungs, "JESSICAAAA. HEESICA'S DAWI-ING ATSIIIIIIDE!" he yelled, making Hangeng walk hurriedly from the office in the far back of the facility and gently pick up the loud little boy.
"Ryeowook, we use inside voices when we're in the play area, okay?" he reminded him kindly with his gentle, kind, and lightly accented Korean.
Ryeowook blushed and looked down at his hands; folded carefully at his lap as Hangeng walked him back outside to the ridiculously large sandbox where Sungmin and Kyuhyun were playing together. "Now you go and play with Kyu-ah and Minnie, okay? I don't want you to bother Jessica, she didn't sleep well during nap time."
Ryeowook nodded meekly and Hangeng laughed, "I'm sorry, Wook-ah, did I frighten you?" he asked lightly, hoisting the boy up in his arms to a more comfortable position.
He held his breath and looked up and at the beautiful Chinese man with the sparkling eyes. Ryeowook wished that when he grew up he'd be as good looking as Hangeng, all of the Noonas and even his dongsaengs found him attractive. He wanted to be just like him. "It's okay, Hangeng-Hyung, I'm sorry," he apologized, smiling in hopes of forgiveness.
The caretaker returned the toothy smile with his one dazzling one and set him down inside the box, "Go ahead and play with them instead, okay Wook-ah?"
The younger boy nodded and stumbled his way over to where Sungmin and Kyuhyun were pushing the sand up to a giant mound in the middle of the box. "What are you doing?" he asked a little breathlessly.
Kyuhyun smirked, "We're building the world's biggest sand castle," he bragged.
Sungmin nodded, "We're almost done, and when we finish we'll decorate it and name it 'Mount KyuMin'!" he paused and pouted a little, "but it's taking too long, so we have to hurry because we won't make it until the end of the day!"
Kyuhyun stood up and smiled widely, "Then we'll have to dig faster! I'll dig, because I'm the best digger in the world! You two can just push the sand that I dig up." He turned around and bent over, his behind sticking up proudly in the air as he began pedaling the sand through his legs and onto the mound; Sungmin pouted.
"I'm the best digger in the world, Kyu-ah. I can do waaaaaaaaaay better than that!"
Kyuhyun stopped and turned around to face Sungmin, his hands planted firmly onto his hips, "I'm the best digger in the world, Minnie. I'm better than you."
Sungmin protested, "Nuh-uh! Mommy and Yuri-Songsaengnim said I was the best digger in the world!"
Kyuhyun scoffed cheekily, "Well Tiffany-Noona, my mommy, and my daddy say that I'm the best digger in the world!"
The older one of the two stopped and crossed him arms in front of his chest, "Tiffany-Songsaengnim's lost her nuggets," he muttered bitterly.
"Well face it, I'm the best digger in the world," Kyuhyun turned around again and continued digging.
"I'M THE BEST DIGGER IN THE WORLD!" Sungmin cried, mirroring Kyuhyun's postition and attempting to pedal his arms even faster than the other.
"I'M THE BEST DIGGER IN THE WORLD!"
"NO, I'M THE BEST DIGGER IN THE WORLD!"
"I AM THE BESTEST DIGGER IN THE WORLD!"
"I'M THE BESTEREST DIGGER IN THE WORLD!"
"I'M THE BEST--"
"OW! MY EYE! KYUHYUN!"
Ryeowook watched as they rolled around in the sand pulling at each other's clothes because Kyuhyun got sand in Sungmin's eyes. He stood up and walked back inside, he was going to look for Yesung-Hyung instead.
