Hyukjae was confused; but he wouldn't dare admit it.
Why? Because if you think about it, it's Donghae, for God's sake; he could do that to anyone and it could mean anything.
Ouch. Hyukjae really shouldn't have thought that.
It hurt his pride to know that he just let Donghae kiss him like that. It hurt his heart to know that Donghae just kissed him and nothing else.
Hyukjae was a mess of confusion and want. It was frustrating. What's more, he has work starting at 4:30 tomorrow and is pretty confident in the fact that he won't be getting any sleep tonight. "Freaking Hae, this is all your fault," Hyukjae mumbles, rolling over to his side and pulling the sheets up to his eyes, "but I'm not going to be an idiot and try to convince myself that I don't kind of like you."
"You promise that?"
Hyukjae jumps in his position and shoots his head up to look at Donghae who was sitting Indian-style atop his own bed situated on the other side of the room, a stupid smile stretched across his face.
He smacks his forehead in embarrassment, "This is why I asked Jungsu if I could have my own bedroom," he groans.
Donghae chuckles lightly, "It's what you get for forgetting you had a roommate, you ass. We've been sharing a room since we debuted more than four years ago, and you act like I'm not even here. Don't drown yourself in stressing thoughts, Hyukkie," Donghae warns, practically jumping off his bed and walking over to his hyung, "It'll make you look older... like Eeteuk-Umma." Hae gently brushes Hyukjae's face.
He flinches at the contact and Hae hesitantly pulls his hand away, pausing for less than a second before returning his fingers into the warm mop of auburn hair; burnt and damaged from excessive flat-ironing and hair products. "You're hair is so messed up," Hae mutters incoherently.
Hyukjae glares up at him with one eye, "And yours is like a field of silk strands," he retorts.
Donghae hums out a chuckle, "Yes, yes it is," he smiles softly.

The alarm sounds at 3:30 and it takes Hyukjae especially long to get up this morning, thanks to his roommate.
He has to film for the next episode of Star King with Jungsu and SJM, which means more and more (and more... and more) Donghae.
He would've been a grumpy mess this morning if it didn't mean he would get to see Henry and Mimi after such a long time. He loves those two more than he hates Donghae right now.
Then again, he doesn't really hate Donghae all that much, anyway.
**
"Hyung! Hyung!" Henry cries in heavily accented Korean, Hyukjae smiles and nearly falls on his behind as Henry merilessly glomps him breathless, "I missed you so much Hyung! It's nice to see you again!" he wails in English. Hyukjae can only pick up so much, but is flattered by his sweet dongsaeng.
Zhoumi's right behind him, an elegant smile stretched across his face, "Nice to see you again, Hyukjae," he says carefully, only a slight hint of Chinese in his accent. It reminded him of Hangeng who, in retrospect, he hasn't talked to in a while.
But before he has the time to look for his awesome hyung, Donghae is right in front of him with that signature pout of his. "Hyung, I'm hungry," he whines, pushing his shoulder playfully.
Hyukjae sighs, "We're going on in half an hour, Hae, what do you want me to do?"
The younger one hands him a cap and pair of sunglasses, "There are huuge coats in the dressing room, and there's a fast food restaurant down the street."
"But--"
Donghae grabs him by the arm and looks around quickly before planting another small kiss on his thin lips, "Let's go!" he smiles, acting like nothing happened. The dancer is speechless, and can do nothing but sigh and follow him into the dressing room to fetch the coats before slipping back out into that biting cold that he hates so damn much because Donghae's doing it again, and he has no willpower to stop him from doing otherwise.
So they come back fifteen minutes late, and Hyukjae swears he's never seen Hodong-ssi so mad before.
**
The elder lay on his bed, eyes open wide and finding patterns on the popcorn on the ceiling. He's making a sorry attempt to analyze Donghae's actions, and ends up giving himself a really bad headache from straining his eyes 'cause he was staring at the ceiling so much.
It pisses him off that, of all people, he can't read Donghae at all. Right when he needs to the most.
He thought fanservice was for the sheer purpose of pleasing the fans. If that was so, then why does he only do it when no one is looking?
It defeats the whole purpose.
Hyukjae quickly scans his room (to make sure Hae isn't in there watching) and drops his head back onto his pillow, "I need answers, Hae," he whispers, "I need answers."
The door opens suddenly, and it's Kyuhyun who's sticking his head inside the room, "Hyung, it's dinner time."
Hyukjae groans, "I'm not hungry," he says.
The maknae laughs and walks over to his hyung, the bed dipping slightly as he takes his seat at the edge of it. "Okay, now you just sound like a five-year-old," he chuckles, pushing Hyukjae's arm lightly, "get up Hyukjae, it's time for dinner."
"Be polite to your Hyung."
"When 'Hyung' gets out of bed and eats his dinner."
"... No."
Kyuhyun sighs and pats him lovingly on the head, "Do you want to talk about it, Hyukjae?"
He buries his face into his pillow and replies with an adamant no.
"Hyukjae."
"... No."
"... Hyung, please."
Hyukjae looks up at him with one eye, closes it with a loud sigh and sits up; staring at his bed sheets nervously. Kyuhyun patiently waits for his hyung to begin and jumps a little when he begins.
"WEWENTOUTINTHESNOWYESTERDAYANDDONGHAEANDIWEREPLAYINGINTHESNOWANDTHENTHEREWASASNOWBALLFIGHTANDTHENDONGHAEKISSEDME."
Kyuhyun laughs a little, "Hyung, is tha--"

Kyuhyun raises an eyebrow in amusement, "Okay, now try saying that in seperate words instead of just screaming it out incoherently."
And so Hyukjae explains, and Kyuhyun listens without interruption.
"... that's all?" Kyuhyun sputters when the other finishes.
The dancer nods.
"Pfft. Well, why don't you just ask him, 'Hey Donghae, why do kiss me for no reason? It's making me question my sexual orientation and I'm confused,'?"
"Kyu. Be serious."
"Who said I wasn't? Really, just ask him. He's Donghae for fuck's sake."
Hyukjae thinks about it for a minute and, as much as he hates to admit it, the maknae has a point. He nods while mulling it over and looks up at him when he's made his decision, "Yeah... yeah, I will ask him."
Kyuhyun gives him his signature smirk, "Well, eat dinner first."
**
It's three in the morning and he can hear Donghae snoring some five feet away. Hyukjae sucks in his breath and stands up, biting his lip.
He hovers over Donghae and watches the young boy sleep for a while before he grabs both of his shoulders and jumps on top of him, startling the other boy awake. "Hyukkie, what the--"
The other covers Donghae's mouth with his hand, "Don't talk, just listen," he demands as the other boy sobers up and nods, slipping out from under Hyukjae and sitting up carefully, rubbing his eyes.
Hyukjae doesn't know how to start, but does anyway, "Donghae... Donghae do remember when... umm... can I ask you... why... why do you kiss me all the time?"
"I've only kissed you twice."
"Yeah, two days in a row."
"Well what if I don't kiss you tomorrow? What if I kiss Sungmin-hyung or Teukie-hyung instead?"
Hyukjae is silent.
"What's the problem anyway? It doesn't mean anything, right?" Donghae almost snaps. Hyukjae feels a pang of ache in his heart and thinks for a few minutes, slowly getting up off of Donghae's bed. His eyes are turning red, but it's too dark for the other to notice.
He laughs weakly, "Yeah... you're right. I guess it just... startled me. Sorry to bother you, Hae. Goodnight."
Donghae snuggles back into the safety of his thick sheets, "Night."
