Somehow she had always known that he would willingly die for her. But now that it had happened she couldn’t quite believe it.
It had been almost a week since Sunnydale California had become the new Grand Canyon. Almost a week since Spike had died for her.
The one thing that she truly regretted was that in those final moments he hadn’t believed her when she told him that she loved him. She had loved him more than even she had known. Despite their turbulent past she had loved him with every fibre of her being.
And now he was gone.
He was gone because he loved her.
And somehow she knew that even if things could have been different he wouldn’t want them to be. He had died for her so that she could live. So that’s what she was going to do.
