I was talking with my boyfriend about this on the way back from a "shrimp boil" tonight. (Shrimp boils rule, by the way. Delicious.) What's the weirdest job you've ever had?
I worked as a temp for Raytheon for a while. I worked for this small division of Raytheon that was dedicated to Kwajalein. Raytheon basically owns Kwajalein.
So Raytheon owns/might as well own at least Namur on Kwajulein. It's a tiny island in the Kwajulein Atoll, which is like super close to the Marshall Islands. Blah blah nuclear testing...but that was long ago. I'm sure there's nothing residual or whatever. Totally safe.
Notes to all potential dictators that are considering seizing islands or Vermont or whatever: If you want to have a company/military base in a remote area, you'll have to stock the rest of the island with people. I mean, say you took over Key West and made most of that middle part a military base. You have to stock the rest of the island with Pizza Delivery guys and TV repairmen...etc. etc. It was my job to find these people, and convince them that they wanted to live on a tropical compound for at least six months, transpo/room/board all provided.
Weird, right?
Okay you go.
