Alright, let's start keeping track
A Farewell to Arms!Ludwig
Ludwig Richter is a young Lieutenant in the German army on the Italian front during WWI. Selected for his skill, dedication, and knowledge of Italian, Ludwig takes on the guise of an Italian captain after assassinating a real captain and taking his place. The small band of troops he inherits accepts him without so much as a 'What happened to Captain Roma?' During a retreat, Ludwig is separated by these men and taken by the self appointed battle police. Before he can be questioned, Ludwig runs and is shot in the shoulder.
He recognizes Gilbert as his brother from back in Ulm (his hometown) and Lovino and Feliciano as men he captained.

Ludwig is a new student to AUH by his own choice. Though his parents have the money to pay for his education, Ludwig is attending with a scholarship for physics and engineering. His biggest fear here is that everyone will tether him to Gilbert and his reputation for being a less than great student. He wants people to judge him for who he is, and he's determined to make his own way. Ludwig is here to work hard, play soccer, and get into the best college he can; if he makes some friend along the way, that's only a pleasant upside.
Pirates!Ludwig
Ludwig joined the Navy at a fairly young age, not for the chance to slay pirates, sleep with foreign women, or even to be on a boat. No, he joined to be at the forefront of a new technological age. Ludwig prides himself in his tiptop care of his ship. Yes his ship, Vash may command the people, but Ludwig considers the boat his own and cares for the Dunant as such. ((As far as I know, our ship has no name, but I thought naming it after Henri Dunant (Swiss founder of the Red Cross) is befitting, if anyone should disagree, let me know.))
The other reason for his enlistment (though Ludwig will never say it out loud) is his desire to find his brother. Though with this is an ever present fear that Gilbert has become a pirate.

Relative(s) in school: Gilbert (buncha middle names) Beilschmidt (senior) and Charles (freshman)
Ludwig is a junior at AUH, still a high strung scholarship student. He overworks to make up for his older brother's delinquent disposition; the middle brother tries to have as much influence as he can over Charles, hoping not get caught between two Gilberts. He's upset that soccer doesn't start until the spring, but this gives him a chance to work. Getting Antonio for a roommate doesn't sit well with him, but Ludwig's willing to give it a try.
