Part 1 [subpart 1]
The name is Alex, lawyer...kinda. Actually, I'm just law student. However, I had already won a murder trial on my first try. Impressive? Yes. Easy? No. It was the toughest thing I've ever done. I'm pretty sure it was all luck though. The stress from it caused breakouts and grey hairs, and I was only 19! I know...life is tough. But it was because of this I was chosen by the SuJu members. That and probably because I was fluent in Korean. I didn't want to admit this, but it was because of them I was so determined to learn Korean. Super Junior was my favorite group in the entire world. However, I never thought me meeting them would include anything with murder. Thinking about it again, I didn't even know what SuJu member was on trial! What if it was Hangeng? What if Hangeng was a murderer? I quickly forgot the stupid cow molester guy. Now all I could think about was who did it. I couldn't think for long though, my cell phone interrupted my worrying. "Hello?"
"What's up Sherlock?" It was Jessica, my partner in crime, A.K.A. my Watson.
"… sup Watson?!" I answered happily. I was always happier when Jessica called me.
"Sup with me? I think you mean it visa versa. Have you arrived it Korea yet?"
"Not yet. We are about to land. Dude, I'm so nervous. What if its Hangeng?"
"I looked it up online! It's-" click. End of call. I learned later it was because her phone died, but I didn't know right then. All I knew was that I was in South Korea. And I was alone.
As soon as I got off the plane, I could see the members of SuJu waiting for me. The first one I saw? Hangeng and his utter perfect-ness... I had to hold myself back so I wouldn't jump him right there and then. I was so relieved, but also disappointed. Why? I saw the fat one, I mean...Shindong. All I could think was DAMN IT! IT'S NOT HIM! I quickly saw familiar faces...except for one. "Oh no...” I muttered under my breath. The first person to greet me was Hangeng. What a gentleman. He shook my hand, and thanked me for taking Donghae's case. I still couldn't believe it was Donghae. As the other members greeted me, I asked them.
"Why would Donghae kill someone?"
"He didn't!" Siwon told me.
"He didn't? Well if he didn't, why is he on trial?"
"That's what we hired YOU for!" Heechul said like a complete and utter douche bag.
I looked at him in disbelief. Why was he being such a jerk to me when I was trying to help?
"Excuse me? Don't get cocky with me. I'm trying to help you guys. I don't want any smart attitude from anyone! Or else I will get back on that plane just as easily as I got off."
"We're sorry Alex. That was extremely rude of Heechul." Kyuhyun said softly.
"Yeah anyways…! Apologize to her!" Ryeowook told Heechul.
Heechul looked extremely embarrassed. He mumbled sorry under his breath.
"Whatever." I said, not caring anymore."Where I'm I staying?"
"In our house…" Leeteuk answered.
"You guys all live together in one house? How many rooms does it have?"
"Well...we have fifteen bedrooms, two guest rooms, six bathrooms, three living areas, one huge kitchen area, two dining areas, which all together makes twenty nine rooms I think." Siwon said.
"Wow...well, I guess we will talk more there." I dropped my luggage.
"This is your problem now boys. Can one of you take me to your car or limo or whatever?" Before anyone could even volunteer, I grabbed Hangeng's arm.
"Awe… Thank you!" I said sweetly.
"Sure. No problem!" He said back and escorted me out of the airport.
Before leaving the airport, I met the two extra members of SJ-M, Henry and...That one guy... His name always slips my mind. Before Henry could utter a word, I was shaking his hand.
"Hello Henry!" I said kindly. "I was looking forward to meeting you! I just want to say, the fact that you’re Chinese CANADIAN totally kicks ass! I mean, it's like the two greatest races combined into one! Wow. I would kill to be Chinese Canadian."
I let go of his hand to greet Mr. Unknown. I heard Henry whisper to Hangeng, "I like her!" That made me smile.
Mr. Unknown smiled and shook my hand. "It's nice to meet you...ugh..." I stalled. Why the hell could I not remember his name? "Don’t tell me, it's on the tip of my tongue...umm...”
"Zhou Mi!" He said, not offended at all because I couldn't remember his name.
"Oh! Yeah! That's right Zhou Mi! It’s nice to meet you!"
Hangeng opened the limo door for me. I thanked him and climbed inside. He got in and sat next to me, much to my excitement. Henry and Zhou Mi got in, followed by Siwon, Ryewook, Kyuhyun and all the rest.
"What took you guys so long?" I asked them, annoyed.
"Kyu dropped some of your bags and everything fell out. Why do you need so much make-up and hair stuff?" Siwon asked.
"Oh c'mon, I'm going to be staying in a house full of boys. I need to make sure I look my best."
"Yeah, how does that make you feel anyway?" Hangeng asked me.
"I dunno… I don't really care. My dad however wasn't so ecstatic about it. He probably thinks I'm going to come back pregnant or something."
Wrong choice of words on my part... The tension in the car went from bad to worse.
"Seriously...I was kidding. It was a joke. You can laugh." I attempted to relive some of the tension between everyone. It didn't seem to work. Giving up, I finally asked questions about Donghae.
"Okay, so Donghae killed someone...but he didn't kill someone?" I questioned.
"He didn't kill anyone! He is being framed. We just don't know by whom." Ryeowook almost yelled at me.
"Okay, I need to ask a few questions then..." I grabbed the notepad from my purse and a pen.
"Alright, who was murdered?"
"John Brown." Hangeng answered.
"John Brown? What kind of name is that? Seriously, that is the worst name I've ever heard of in my life!" I laughed, I couldn't help myself. It was just too stupid!
"It's probably the most common American name I've ever heard of." Leeteuk said, confused.
"I know… which is what makes it so hysterical!" I laughed even harder, but I quickly stopped after seeing all the lost faces.
"Your not American...you just wouldn't get it." I regained control of myself.
"Anyways, moving on... So how was...psh...John Brown, I'm sorry...” I burst out laughing again.
"I just can't take that name seriously! John Brown...really...who in the world would name their son that...” The SuJu members were totally cool, and let me laugh until I couldn't laugh anymore.
When my laughing stopped, Heechul looked at me coldly.
"Are you done?"
"Hahahaha...yeah...yeah I'm done."
"Good, because your here for a serious reason, not to laugh at the poor victim's name...”
"Calm down, calm down… Don't get your panties in a knot." I snapped back at him,
The limo was filled with sounds of the guy's laughter. I watched Heechul turn to five different shades of red. I couldn't help but to smile at that. I'm a terrible person, I know.
"Alright boys, calm down. Let's get serious. How was John-I mean the victim killed?"
"He was poisoned...rat poison I think it was." Henry answered.
"Ouch...when was it?"
"It was three days ago at a concert...the place was the venue. He was the owner, and he was going through all the dressing rooms to see where we were and stuff. He went to Donghae's room, where Donghae gave him rat poison." Hangeng explained.
"But he didn't!" Siwon pointed out.
"I know he didn't, but that is what is on the police report." Hangeng told him.
"Do they have evidence, enough evidence to convict him?" I asked.
"Other then the fact that it was in Donghae's dressing room and the item with the poison in it had his fingerprints all over it? No." Ryeowook explained to me.
"Okay...I need to ask. Why are you so sure he didn't do it?"
"Because five minutes before the murder took place, I was talking to him. He seemed his normal Donghae self. He didn't seem different or weird at all." said Siwon.
"Plus, I saw him come out of his dressing room a few minutes after it happened. There was no body in the dressing room!" Hangeng added.
"Well... that seems like enough evidence to get him sent free, don't you think?" I was so confused; no officer in his right mind would convict someone like this. They were hiding something. As I opened my mouth to ask one more question, the limo stopped.
"We're here!" Ryeowook said happily.
Everyone got out the limo one by one. Hangeng grabbed my hand and helped me out.
"Thanks!" I told him, and gave him a huge smile.
"Anytime." He said back to me, and smiled right back. He had a great smile, he was just perfect. I honestly couldn't believe someone like him even existed. We looked at each other, smiling. We were defiantly flirting in code, whatever the hell that means. I probably could have stayed there forever if it wasn't for Siwon yelling at us to get inside. I broke from the stare and walked towards the front door. The front door to the biggest house I've ever seen. It was mind blowing. Ryeowook held the door open for me. The door was three times his size and looked like it was made from solid gold or something. The inside of the house was ginormous. I couldn't believe they made houses this big. It was kinda ridiculous. Before I could even utter a sound of awe, Kyu and Ryeowook grabbed my bags and led me to my room. To no surprise, the room was beautiful. It even had a private bathroom, with a freaking hot tub!
"This is so...cool." I whispered.
I quickly unpacked. I wanted to get done as fast as possible so I could ask more questions. After I was done putting my clothes away, I attempted to call Watson. No answer. I decided to leave a nice little voicemail.
"Hey Watson, I need to tell you something. Really? Really? On the one occasion I need you the most… you choose to not have your phone with you. That's just great. I have so much to tell you. So please...call. I miss you Watson. I wish you were here- WHAT THE HELL?"
I stopped the voicemail. Outside the window, a giant helicopter was flying around outside. I quickly ran downstairs where the guys were waiting for me.
"What the hell is that?" I stammered.
"Umm...a helicopter…?" Heechul said douche-ly.
"Okay smart ass, let me rephrase that. Why the hell is helicopter outside your house?"
I was starting to get annoyed with Heechul.
Hangeng laughed. "It's the paparazzi; they want to get a glimpse of the young American girl who is going to save Donghae."
"Wanna go outside and meet them?" Siwon asked. I shook my head.
"Sorry, I'd rather eat paste." I told him.
"Hey Alex, could you uh...talk in Korean please?" Kyu asked "it's easier for must of us..."
That was the first time I realized I was talking in English. I answered his question in Korean, then went right back to English.
"So I want to ask you guys some more questions..."
"Wait, I thought you spoke fluent Korean?" Kyu questioned.
"Sorry, that is all I know in Korean."
The looks on their faces were priceless.
"However, I do speak fluent sarcasm." I chuckled at my own cleverness. It didn't take everyone long to understand.
"I'm sorry guys, I just prefer English... if that's alright?"
All the guys agreed. The helicopter finally flew away, so now it was time to get down to business.
"Do you guys have any court records or pictures or anything like that? It would be a great help."
The guys all shook their heads.
"That's just fantastic." I said, rolling my eyes.
"The people at the court house said you could go down there when you arrived, but it's kind of late. The court house is closed." Henry said.
Thinking about it, it was really late and I was extremely tired. It had been a rough day. Hangeng looked at me and smiled.
"If you want, I can take you there tomorrow morning. It's no big deal. I can also take you too the crime scene as well."
"Really? That would be great! Thanks!"
I looked at the clock, it was almost midnight. How I was still awake was beyond me. Yawning, I told the guys sleepily.
"Okay, well I’m going to bed...goodnight."
They all said goodnight, except Heechul because he's a frickin’ douche bag. When I got to my room, I quickly called Watson. No answer. Annoyed, I hooked my phone to the charger and got in bed. I didn't fall asleep easily. I was troubled. Millions of fan girls were depending on me to save Donghae. The pressure was on. Another thing that stumbled in my brain was that I was kind of going on a date with Hangeng tomorrow... in a sick kind of way. I am probably the only person who could consider going to the place where a person was murdered a date. I'm a terrible person.
I woke up the next morning around 7:30. It was practically the middle of the night! I couldn't get back to sleep, no matter how hard I tried so I just gave up. Today was the day I was going to actually start my investigation. I stumbled out of bed, and got a quick shower. As I was drying my hair, I wondered who was up. I shut off the hair dryer and got dressed. The only thing that stood out was my nails. The white paint was chipping off them. I had to fix that. The one thing that really bugs me is unpainted nails. I didn't have enough time though. Someone was knocking on my door. When I answered it, I couldn't help but to smile. It was Hangeng.
"Good morning!" He said sweetly.
"Back at you..." I said, smiling like an idiot.
"Hungry? Breakfast is ready downstairs."
"Yeah, I'll be down in a minute."
I shut the door. I grabbed my purse and my phone. I checked to see if I had any missed calls. None. I tried calling Watson again and got voicemail AGAIN. Assuming Watson was dead, I went downstairs to eat.
All the guys were up and at the table. They all greeted me, except Heechul of course. I sat down between Hangeng and Kyu. While we were eating, Siwon jokingly asked me if I had a boyfriend back home. I shook my head.
"No, I don't. All the guys I work with are either too ugly or too pervy. But then again, most Americans are."
"Well we certainly aren't ugly or pervy, are we?" Kibum asked, chuckling.
I laughed. I was really starting to love the guys so much more... except Heechul... and the fat one.
"From what I can tell, no… You all are acting like gentleman. I really appreciate it."
The guys smiled hugely. Hangeng stood up.
"Well, I think its time we get to the courthouse, don't you?"
I nodded, and got up.
"Thanks for breakfast you guys."
"We will be back later." Hangeng told them.
I waved goodbye to everyone. Hangeng led me outside. He led me to a bright yellow car. Yeah, it was yellow. He opened the passenger door for me. I thanked him and got inside. He walked to the driver’s seat and got in. I was a little shocked that he was actually driving.
"Wait, wait, wait, I'm confused." I said as he started the car.
"About?"
"You’re driving." I said simply.
He laughed. "Yeah, and?"
"Well...you’re famous. Don't famous people have chauffeurs and stuff?"
"I suppose. It would just be easier though if I just drove us. Don't you agree?"
I nodded. It was kinda embarrassing, being alone with him. After all, in my opinion, he was the most attractive person on the planet. I really hope I wasn't blushing, that would be way too embarrassing. The entire car ride, I just stared at him. I was probably making him uncomfortable, but I couldn't help myself. He was just so attractive. Finally, he looked at me, chuckling.
"Can I help you with something?"
I shook my head "Not really."
"Then why are you staring at me?"
"I dunno. Has anyone ever told you you’re extremely gorgeous?"
"Lots of times…"
"Well it's true."
I'm pretty sure I'm the one who embarrassed him. He smiled shyly and turned his attention back to the road. Five minutes later, he pulled into a very large parking lot. The sign on the front said
"Seoul Courthouse..." Hangeng got out and opened my door. We walked inside the large building. The inside of the courthouse looked exactly like an American courthouse. I got out my lawyer badge and license. We reached a point where pedestrians weren't allowed to cross. Hangeng stepped back.
"I guess I'll wait for you here."
I walked up to a person sorting files. I told her the reason I was here and who I was. She instantly grabbed a thick file and handed it to me.
"This is the defense's court record. It has crime scene photos, DNA Evidence, finger prints and police reports. Everything you need to get started." The nice lady told me.
I thanked her, and got the hell out of there. The place was kind of giving me the creeps.
The next stop on our list was the crime scene. The drive was going to be half an hour, so I took the liberty of going through the court record. According to the fingerprints found on the bottle of poison, they matched the fingerprints of Donghae. One thing stuck out to me.
"That's odd…" I said to myself.
"What's odd?" Hangeng asked.
"They didn't check for fingerprints on the body. That's extremely strange. In every trial I've done there were fingerprint checks on the body. I wonder why they didn't...”
"I think they did… on his arm. They just didn't write it down. I'm pretty sure they found Donghae's fingerprints on his arm."
"Just his arm…?" This case was getting extremely strange.
The rest of the car ride was just silence. I spend most of it going through the police reports. The body was found at 10:25PM, during a Super Junior concert. The victim had consumed rat poison and died five minutes afterwards... The body and the bottle of rat poison were found in Donghae's dressing room.
"If Super Junior was performing during this time, then why is Donghae being convicted? He couldn't have fed him rat poison if he was on stage?" I asked Hangeng.
"It was when Super Junior K.R.Y was performing.
I shook my head in utter disbelief. "Wow...this case is not looking good for Donghae. Are you sure he didn't do it?"
"I'm 100% positive. Hey, maybe you'll find some clues in the venue it took place out… because we are here."
I looked out the window. Right outside was a huge theater. All I could hope for was anything, ANYTHING that could help me prove Donghae's innocence.
"Here is Donghae's dressing room." Inside the room, there was police sketch of the body on the floor. Other then that, nothing really stood out to me. I got really frustrated all of a sudden. I just wanted to scream. I needed Jessica, right there and then.
"Ugh! I need Watson!" I yelled angrily.
