addiction
i have become completely addicted to audible, which has lots of audiobooks for download. it totally activates my multitasking tendencies, allowing me to knit *and* read at the same time.
i've downloaded three books in the past week: david sedaris' _me talk pretty one day_, khaled hoseini's _the kite runner_, and jhumpa lahiri's _the namesake_. i'm on a subscription program that allows me to get two books a month at a reduced cost, but i may not be able to wait that long.
i'm thinking of re-reading _war and peace_, which at 62 hours should keep me occupied for a little while. though i'm not sure if russian fiction is such a good idea. i'm always afraid that whatever i'm reading will affect the tone of what i'm writing. and my sentences are already on the long side. though i'm unwilling to read hemingway just to curb that habit. maybe dorothy parker.
i got the first proofs for the novel excerpt i'm publishing in january. exciting!
