possibly junk science, but i wonder

having just weathered a winter that i seem to remember being colder than the ones before, and hearing what i have from other people indicating that their winters seem to be colder as well, i got to wondering about global warming as a "fact ( Read more... )

The pole shift wouldn't affect temperature, HOWEVER, electronics in space are usually pretty much fucked with major changes in the magnetosphere. So I wouldn't say it's not a concern. Basically along the magnetosphere lines, there's trapped ions/electrons/plasma/funstuff that travel up and down the lines, and it's the reason for auroras and why you can only really see them at the poles. The Earth is basically a sphere with a very slow spinning bar magnet in it, magnetically.

Furthermore, rapid temperature changes (like what we've been seeing in modern history) wrecks the shit out of local fauna and flora, which, if it were cylical, would be tolerant to these changes (speaking of older flora, that is), and pole shifts have happened multiple times in Earth's past.

And the earth is warmed by rays in the infrared emitted by the sun, and when it;s facing away, it's not getting any of those rays. Think of a beach ball illuminated all day under a hot incandesent lamp, and how the underside is cooler.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is no. :)
