Ren Fair with Twinkie and Furiends (11/21/09)
Not seeing my sea ottah furiend in half a year is roughly half a year too long! So I was very happy to hear twinkie_ottah was coming to visit again :). After some chatting, he and I decided to meet up at the Sarasota Medieval Fair. That Saturday rieshal and I drove up to meet Twinkie, Herbie, lillibug, and someone else whose name I have forgotten over these past months. It was my first renaissance fair so I didn’t have the proper attire :P. Twinkie, Liesal and Herbie were very well dressed for the occasion though hehe.
According to Herbie, it wasn’t a very big fair but they did have animal rides for the kids (horses, elephants, etc) and weapon throwing for the adults. Of course they had plenty of ren fair food, none of which I felt I had the stomach for that day :P. There were many shops, one of which was selling tails. Looks as though furries go farther back than we thought hehe :D. The biggest show there was called the Mud Show. The guy who performed in it was a complete wack job (see pic below), but entertaining none-the-less.
Afterwards we drove down to a restaurant eagle_beagle had recommended to Herbie while in the area. It was the Munchies 4:20 Café, a place I found out later was well known for their insane spicy wings challenge. Most everyone got regular food but a certain curious bear went and ordered a Fat Sandy. Looking at his sandwich made my stomach bloat O_o. As it was getting late, we said our “farewell for nows” and headed on home. But that wouldn’t be the last we’d see of the ottah and furiends this visit. See next entry :).
