The silver-haired General was stony, impassive to the cries of the dying, even though several of his men cast questioning glances over their shoulders. But Sephiroth just stood there, giving no order to finish off the wounded as they suffered.
Although MAKO green eyes were cold, each shriek of agony cut him like a blade, but he nevertheless turned on a heel and strode for the waiting transport. He had his orders, no matter how much he might despise them. Nearly as one, his troops turned and followed suit, not even whispering amongst themselves...
He slept for twenty-six hours without stirring. But his dreams were cold, so cold. She spoke in his mind, taunting him with whispers of flame and destruction, seducing the darker part of her son's nature with those tantalizing visions.
Power, my son. Do you feel it? Her sultry laugh, freezing his soul. It is yours, you are the only one worthy of it. Their Messiah, their Savior. Perfection in flesh, my beautiful one. When you are ready, when enough have suffered, when enough have bled, you will rise from this madness and take your rightful place upon the throne of the universe and we will bend all to our reign!
Sephiroth woke with a ragged scream, sweating and shaking as he tumbled from bed, hitting his hands and knees trying to regain his breath. He gasped and coughed, trying to clear the remnants of that wonderful nightmare from his shocked eyes. A glance at the clock proved it was nearly midnight and he finally made it to his feet and staggered to the kitchen, downing several glasses of shockingly cold water in rapid succession as he tried to regain a modicum of equilibrium.
The dreams - no the memories - were getting worse...
