I WOULD JUST LIKE TO CHIME IN HERE WITH

for the insearchtion challenge last year our team made 2 decks of Tarot Cards--one for a literal interpretation of the ending, one for a figurative interpretation. The roles of the players all shuffled around in each deck--for everyone except Arthur.

In both decks, Arthur is Strength. Here's the original Rider-Waite image for Strength:



which, as you can see, totally lines up with your interpretation of the Caregiver archetype: he exhibits strength by being protective, helpful, supportive, and also able to manhandle a lion if necessary.
