My new friend, WuFei, decided to show me around the city today after school. It was nice to get out, and be with someone who is friendly without being obnoxious - they way a certain someone in my history class is. Duo is still talking to me. I even asked him to not do so while class was going on, but unfortunately his silence was short-lived. I believe he may suffocate if he doesn't talk, which I don't understand one bit.

WuFei and I went many places today, the highlight being this one hole-in-the-wall comic book store. It was kind of dark and seedy looking, but in the very back of the store was a large bin that held a treasure-trove of video games. This isn't that uncommon, but I found something amazing while digging through them. I found Suikoden II, sealed and for only $30. It's the only one I lack, since I bought them all when they first came out, but sadly I couldn't get my hands on that title (the publisher didn't produce enough copies)*. I of course bought it, and then informed the owner of his blunder. He didn't look too happy, but I got my game for the price he had stupidly placed on it.

I have homework that I need to do, so I'll have the weekend free. WuFei said that he's the DM of a D&D group, and he wants me to join*. It seems that everything will be fine here. I've made a good friend that's interested in the same things.

The other students may be snobby, but they seem to stay clear of me, and I like that. I just wish that Duo Maxwell would leave me alone.

I miss my old friends. Most especially, Trowa.

There's nothing wrong with WuFei, but he can be a bit - annoying. He has a bad habit of ranting over completely inane things, and once he gets started, he won't stop. Like yesterday during our game, one of the other players decided to begin a side quest with another member. WuFei was fine with it, but when he found out it was just so their characters could 'hookup,' he went a little overboard. A simple, 'that's not allowed,' would have sufficed. Instead we were subjected to a rant about the overactive hormones of teenagers. After he finally calmed down, the pair (who are boyfriend and girlfriend in real-life) agreed to work on a more appropriate story-line.

I also learned a bit about Duo, unfortunately. He's on the basketball team, and quite popular. However, everyone likes him, and he talks to everyone. He's not snobby like the rest of the school. Cliques mean nothing to him. I have to laugh over this though. I've never seen someone that truly honors that way of thinking. Most people care about their image, and since there are so many cliques in this school, I have a hard time seeing how he can get away with not caring. One would think that it would be social suicide and no one would talk with him.

Despite the fact that Hilde told me she thought we’d make good friends, I know without a doubt that Duo and I will never be friends.

I had a close call today. My history teacher informed us that we will be required to do a group presentation before Christmas. Since it’s an advanced history class, there isn’t very many students: 12 total. So, we were paired off in six teams. Duo tried very hard to be my partner, but I grabbed onto Mil, as he’s known. He’s a senior and also on the basketball team. He’s almost as bad as Duo, but significantly quieter. Actually, his sister is in my pre-cal class. I have to admit that you can definitely tell they’re related, both of them seem to have this odd preoccupation with me. Especially Relena. I’ve caught her just staring at me from her seat in the back of the room. Frankly I don’t really understand it; perhaps she isn’t even looking at me, but gazing out the window?

Mil seems to be somewhat knowledgeable in history, so the group session today went well. We’ve decided to do a presentation on ancient Egypt and its pharaohs, concentrating specifically on Akhnaten. I’m looking forward to that, it looks like it’ll be rewarding to work with someone who understands it. I doubt Duo will do a good job, but I wonder what subject he will chose.

Trowa called today and said that he can come and visit the weekend of the 29th. I’m really excited about getting to spend time with him again. Hopefully he and WuFei will get along, in fact Trowa confided in me that he’s attempting to convince his parents to let him go to school here. His older sister has an apartment not too far from the high school, so it looks like it may work out. I’d be eternally grateful to her if she let him.

In other news, I went to WuFei’s yesterday, but since both Hilde and Sally were sick, the four remaining boys and myself decided to play Unreal. I beat them all. None can frag better than me.

Thankfully with Hilde out sick, I didn’t get to hear her expound on Duo’s greatness. Although, I admit I’m curious as to why she praises him so much. Does she have a crush on him? If so I feel sorry for Billy, but if not, then why? I must remember to ask that next time I see her.

Hilde finally came back to school today, and I saw her hanging around Duo’s locker (with Billy in tow). I was fairly surprised to see him alongside her, but then they are a bit inseparable. I stood across the hall, waiting for them to finish talking. I thought that I was out of sight, but unfortunately, Duo spotted me. When he waved, I glared back, hoping that it would keep him at bay. Naturally it failed.

He walked over to me and asked me how I was, and I responded in a nice curt tone. He didn’t get my hint and kept talking. I didn’t say anything to him, in fact I tuned most of what he said out. The bell rang, and I excused myself. He laughed in his usual carefree manner, and told me he’d see me in history. I must admit my stomach knotted up. Do I have to tell him point blank that I don’t like him? That I don’t appreciate him talking to me all the time? Maybe Trowa will be able to help.

As for Hilde, I finally caught up with her again in the library during lunch. I asked her about Duo, and for some reason there was this hopeful gleam in her eyes. After saying some very odd things about how wonderful it is that I seem to be taking an interest in him, she informed me that she and Duo are cousins. Now I finally understand why she praises him so much, to her he’s the brother she never had. She asked me exactly what I thought of him, and I told her the truth, which she didn’t seem to like very much. The librarian came over and told us to hush or get out.

TBC :)

* The Suikoden series is an RPG for the Playstation/PS2. It's not overly popular in the states, which is why it's actually a relatively rare game. Particularly the one I mentioned. It usually sells for between $100-200 on ebay. I am speculating though about the publisher. I honestly can't remember now if that's why it's the rarest of that series. I'm fairly certain that's the reason, so I went with it, but I'm not 100%.

* DM = Dungeon Master, essentially the Game Master.

* Frag is a term that is used in first person shooters for a kill.

* My knowledge of Dungeons and Dragons is limited. I've never actually participated in a game, but I've sat in on a few. If anyone wants to be my info source for this, please feel free to poke me. I'm not sure if I'll need to ask any questions about it, but if I run into something I'd like to know if someone out there will be willing to help me. :)
