Supers RPG setting seed

He was the strongest of us.

None could compare. The name of Ys and the Raging Bull Squadron terrified criminals,
and inspired heroes. His coming ushered in a golden age where anything was possible.
Idealists and dreamers flourished. Augments, powered by the rapid advance in the
sciences, were added to the ranks of the Unbound, and we made our first steps towards
the stars.

He was the best of us.

Though not born of this Earth, he loved his adopted home with an unmatched passion.
He treated his life here, his new life, as a gift. Perhaps he saw what we could not, his
perspective as an outsider, seeing us as one people, one planet. He always strove to
unite. For all his power, he knew that one man alone could not change the world.
Societies formed, dedicated to his vision of humanity's potential.

He was the greatest of us.

It was his innocence. His shameless wonder for this little blue speck, that drove us all to
be the best we could be, to follow his example for 40 years, and give of ourselves,
wholly and willingly, to make the world a better place. His naive belief in us, despite all
that was bad, we had the potential for so much, if we could just overcome our flaws.

He was wrong.

With so much in common, we still focused on our differences, had to hate, fight, kill each
other because of them. Right up until the end, he never understood why.

He was murdered.

By one of our own. One stroke that ended our golden age. Our ranks fractured by this one
act. We fought, with the passion and fury of  the righteous on both sides. Heroes died.
Cities died. In our sorrow, in our shame, in our  rage, we destroyed everything we had
accomplished. The cost was terrible.

Ten years have passed since we murdered our future. Ten years of mourning. We
continued, but the cycle of trust was broken. We were mistrusted at best, feared and
hunted at worst. All justifiably so. What we did to ourselves was nothing compared to
what we inflicted on those without the power to choose. We were children, screaming
and raging at what we could not understand, our innocence forever lost, and only after
the act could we understand the price.

Our childhood is over. It is time to put things right.

Shameless superman analogue with a twist. This one could have potential.

Commentary invited and appreciated. Maybe this can be fleshed out through collaboration. ^_^
