When Justin & I first moved to the Bay Area, I took a job with Resources for Community Development - a non-profit in Berkeley, CA which develops affordable housing throughout the Bay Area. RCD's mission is to create & preserve affordable housing for people with the fewest options to build community and to enrich lives. I have since moved on from RCD to a new job, but I joined RCD's Board of Directors last year because I still believe in what they do and how they do it.
On May 9th, as part of Affordable Housing Week here in the Bay Area, RCD is sponsoring a one mile walk to raise funds for resident services at the properties and to raise awarenes about affordable housing in the community. RCD's tenants are some of the hardest hit by lay-offs and all the other aspects of this difficult economic time. RCD's services help connect tenants to job training, after school programs, ESL classes, food banks, etc.
So I am emailing to ask for your support on this walk which I will be doing with Justin & Jessie (our 9 month old puppy!) - any donation would be greatly appreciated - from $10 to $50 or more!
