Prayer for my actng work
Today I am having a day of prayer and fasting for my acting work. Often, I find it helpful to write a summary of my prayers and feelings down. I've shared my thoughts with God, now I'm sharing them with you:
Dear Lord and Heavenly Father
I am praying about a work that I am going to do for you. I am going to be dedicating 7 weeks of my life to spreading your word among the children. I pray that this time will be blessed, that not only will it be profitable to your kingdom, but that I will learn the power of what it is to walk in Your will.
I pray Lord that I shall not be prideful. I hear the voices of family and those elders who are as good as, telling me that this is what I was always meant to do. I do this for you, for your lost children, and for me. I shall not count this work as an accomplishment only because those human voices I have relied on for approval congratulate me, but because it is a great thing in itself.
I thank You again for the good people, good friends and family You have surrounded me with. I thank you for the generosity of those I am privelaged to call 'my people.' Your family: the Church, and also those in the world who hold me up. I thank you for their generosity of spirit.
I pray again for humility in this venture. In a time when we are called to be 'successful people,' may I only measure my success in your sight. Do not let me abuse myself, trying too hard in my own strength and burning my candle away in the darkness, saying 'look at my light!' when the room is only illuminated because of Your lantern behind me.
I thank you Lord for the strength of the home I shall be staying in while I do this work. My time away from my wife will make us fonder, and the strength I gain at my parents' house will bless me and Your work.
I thank you again that You are God. Without You, I would be a lesser man. You are my source and my destination. You are the reason I am doing this work, and the reason I would ever want to.
My last petition is that in this venture you will return to me my energy and purpose. I have been lacking both, and I need them to serve You.
