Nino in More 2010/12 Vol.24 "Front and back"

My first Arashi translation, yayy!!! :D I love Nino's More interviews; they show his character quite well. I might work on the untranslated interviews if I have time. >.>

Disclaimer: I am in no way fluent in Japanese so this isn't 100% correct. Feel free to correct.

thanks for sharing! I really love Nino's views. I think that he's the one who gives the wisest words among arashi members! :)

Thanks for translating!

I don't know how to interpret his thoughts on knowing others. On one hand it seems like the basic idea "You can never truly know another person," but on the other hand it comes across like he's not close with the other members.

I get that vibe too. I mean, he seems like a really....lonely person, someone who doesn't trust others. But on the other hand, Arashi have managed to sneak in there. They're very important to him, that's for sure. But...I don't know. He's an enigma. XD

yes, i sensed the same thing. he seems to difficult (and a little unwilling) to put too much trust on another. i wonder how did he develope this kind of character. he's been in the entertainment industry for half of his life.

also, he don't negate and even can say bluntly that he doesn't have many friends in national tv. most people dont' do that, i guess. especially an idol.

all in all, I found Nino has very interesting personality (also Ohno but he doesn't show it and it's difficult to make him show it. LOL)

Well, he and all the Johnny's have spent most of their lives in front of a camera. Also, because they're idols, they're forced to form their personalities according to a certain ideal. When they don't adhere to the idol ideal, they're out of a job. I mean these guys are going into their thirties and they still have to maintain this virginal-but-sexy-high-school-boy persona or face decreased sales or job loss. They're also hyper-aware that whenever they do fuck up in their private lives, the story can easily get out to the tabloids and media. Even when they don't fuck up the tabloids are more than happy to make up stories. I imagine they're all guarded and distrustful. I think Nino in particular, with his sharp tongue, faces a lot of criticism from all sides, so he's even more guarded and distrustful. He also strikes me as being a little resentful towards the whole thing too, so that probably makes him less likely to put on a happy face and say pleasant things for the sake of an interview but he's also not going to go so far to ( ... )
