Belated Hallowe'en photo post
Hello, LJ! I know, I know, you barely remember who I am, I post updates on my life so rarely.
So, I spent the last month feeling queer in the mornings, exhausted in the afternoons and frantic in the evenings, building my latest OCD-fueled Hallowe'en masterpiece.
Before I get to the pics though, a quick update on non-costumey goodness:
- I'm 18 weeks pregnant now, and finally getting a real appetite again.
- My daughter gets cuter and cuter every day. I think I need to save anecdotes for a whole separate post, they are that awesome...
- Our renovations are finally coming to a completion, and the house is looking nicer than it ever has before.
- I have my very first-ever DISHWASHER!!! This is huge, guys. I bought it second hand for $40 four months ago, and it was installed last week. I call it Benji, the Robot Dishslave. I need more robots helping me keep house.
And with that, On to the PHOTOS!
I dressed up as the Alien Spy Girl from Mars Attacks!
This is what I was going for:
Construction detail:
I bought an old wedding dress and spent 2 weeks altering it from a typical empire waist to an amazing fitted mermaid-style, using spare fabric from the veil/train thingie. Then I drew spirals on it in Tacky Glue and poured red glitter on. I am STILL dealing with the red glitter epidemic this unleashed on my house.

I look terrible in this photo but I only had my husband to take a full-length shot, and his timing isn't the greatest.
Here's a better photo of me with my pal, who made an awesome Leela from Futurama.
And my ZoZo was a flying monkey from the Wizard of Oz.
I bought the monkey suit and made the wings myself, out of wire, electrical tape, black nylons and Mod Podge.
Cutest flying monkey ever, huh?
Well, that was Hallowe'en. Stay tuned, because my 20 week ultrasound should be coming up in a week, and I'm really hoping to find out the gender of the baby. In BC the doctors have passed some informal legislation stating that it's immoral or unethical to tell parents the gender of their unborn child, so I have to hope to get an ultrasound tech willing to bend the rules enough to let me know. Wish me luck!
