{repost from myspace} [25 Jun 2007 | Monday]
so, i've already talked about my awesome wknds, right? and the fact that generally, life doesn't suck.
well, this weekend was more of the same: blessings in the way of friendship & extended [adopted] family, and general good times had by all. i joined netflix last week [free 4 a month, thx to my boss], so i watched ghost rider and holiday -- both good, holiday was excellent in my opinion [total chick flick] -- and am now waiting on music&lyrics. anyway, yesterday i got up in time to cut the grass before i would literally bake myself in the sun [wore sunscreen, anyway] and i did just that - cut the grass, that is. [though, when i came inside, i did feel partially baked...half, even. ;)]
so, i came inside and took a wondrous shower -- sunday showers are the best cuz you know there's no rush -- nothing you have to do -- no timetable. after i got out, i put on a jeans skirt/t-shirt and sandals [easy to try on clothes] and i got on the computer -- i was thinking that i'd go to greenville [to treat myself for finally cutting the grass and being out in the hot sun]. so i looked up a book on bn.com: The Prada Paradox [last in the Givenchy Code trilogy Jenn & i like so much]. the book was/is out, so i planned to go to B&N while in town. [especially since i had a coupon for an extra 15% off -- yay me!] so i decided to make myself a mix cd [which i haven't done in quite some time, since i have my iPod and all that, but you know -- sometimes transferring all that stuff takes so much longer than just making a cd, esp. when you consider charging time (since i haven't charged in a while)]
playlist:
more than a woman [angie stone]
say goodbye [dmb]
giving him something he can feel [en vogue]
feel good inc. [gorillaz]
luxurious [gwen stefani]
pink panther theme [henry mancini]
come clean [hilary duff]
hide and seek [imogen heap]
all nite (don't stop) [janet jackson]
not like crazy [jill scott]
summer love/set the mood [justin timberlake]
all these things that i've done [killers]
numb [linkin park]
the roof [mariah]
elevators (me and you) [outkast]
bridge over troubled water [simon and garfunkel]
rain [swv]
bangs [they might be giants]
what an awesome cd this is. i don't think i can even begin to convey how much i love it. in fact -- i won't even try. just know i love it.
went to greenville, went shopping [wanted to get some jeans, but didn't really see any i liked, so i got some other clothes, which is nice since i haven't gotten clothes in a long time], got my book, went to eat and grocery shop [whole foods(!)] and came back home...when i got here, i unloaded the car and decided to take holiday out to the mailbox and water my flowers. i always try to kill two birds in this crazy heat, so i carry my watering can out with me to the mailbox to water the begonias as i put the movie in the box. then i work my way back up the lawn, coming up to water some more begonias and zinnias.
i see something move pretty fast -- but i don't really know what it was. so i just keep watering my flowers, when something JUMPS ON MY FOOT!!! ::shiver:: ok -- you know i'm not into animals. definitely not into animals touching/jumping on me. AAAAAAAHHHH -- it was a frog -- or maybe a toad. I don't know. it was little. and brownish. it wasn't on my foot more than a split second, but that sucker freaked me out. but see, a neighbor was out on her front porch rocking on the swing with her baby [and you know i'm not into drawing attention to myself from the neighbors...] so - since my mouth was thankfully closed, i just made this kind of..."Mmmnhh!" sound, as i kicked that sucker off my foot. i moved pretty quickly, too. i dunno if i drew attention to myself or not, but thankfully the neighbor-lady didn't stare.
as i walked up closer to the house to water my daisies, i saw another one of my hopping buddies [frog/toad/whatever] and i was careful not to invade its space. that was something, though.
the rest of the evening was fairly uneventful -- i finished the book, jenn called me for just a tad bit longer than the frog was on my foot [note to self: find a way to nancy drew, this week], and that was the evening.
a few other things are going through my mind right now, but they're just barely ideas at this point, so i'll think on them a while longer before writing about it all...suffice to say, that particular playlist [which has been on constant repeat in the car and here at home] brought up some stuff i haven't thought about in a long time..............
time for the closer
*peace*
