Konohagakure no Sato, Monday Afternoon

Dec 21, 2009 19:52

It was a cool enough day, though sunny, that Hinata was glad for her coat as she walked beside Hayley and keeping an eye out for anything untoward. It was unlikely that they'd be attacked, to be entirely fair, but it never hurt to keep an eye on things just in case ( Read more... )

"Gee," Hayley said. "Your home actually has big gates? So there's, like, an actual key to your city?"

"Not really a key," she said, with a soft laugh. "But actual gates. The village walls are quite high."

Hayley giggled. "Well, that's a shame. I always wondered why they gave those sort of things out. But how big are they?"

"You'll see soon," she said, smile curving up just a little more. "We're almost there. Do you s-still have the papers I gave you?"

Hayley nodded. "I figured they were really important, so I kept extra good track of them. I'm gonna have to show 'em to the guards, huh?"

She nodded. "Otherwise th-they won't let you in," Hinata explained, "it's to make sure they know who is allowed in the village and who isn't."

They rounded a bend in the trail and the wooden walls of the village came into view, rising up and up more than five, nearly ten stories up. So solidly put together that not a single chink or crack showed. Metal pipes ran up the walls at points, and over, to disappear into the village.

Right down the road they were on was the gates--wide open, the kanji for fire painted in scarlet on them and overhead the name of the village written out. In the middle of the frame was the symbol of their village, the Konoha leaf, and the exact match to the one she had on her headband around her neck.

Hayley just about fell over backwards.

"Oh my goodness," she gasped, in utter awe of the the sight.

Hinata grinned lightly at Hayley's surprise. "I t-trust it does not disappoint?" she teased lightly.

"Are you kiddin'?" Hayley said, still not quite believing her eyes. "This is something like out of a fairy tale."

"It's home to me," she answered quietly. "But th-thank you. Shall we keep moving? Or would you like to just look for a little longer?"

"Oh, we better go now or else I might never get the nerve to go in," Hayley said.

"You'd get c-cold and come in," she said, smiling and heading for the gates. "Th-There might not be snow around here very often, but it gets pretty cold."

For, you know, Fire Country.

"Well then, let's get a move on," Hayley said. "If it looks so great on the outside, it's gonna look even better onthe inside."

"I'll leave you to be the judge of that," she answered lightly. "Th-Though I'm fairly fond of it."

"Which is good," Hayley said. "It'd be awful if ya didn't like your home."

A concept Hayley was all too familiar with.

"I have heard that before," she said, a little more serious. "But th-there's no time like the present to enjoy something new, right?"
