Writing

I've read 25 books in the month of January... surpassing my goal of 17.

Whenever I do a lot of reading, it makes me want to write.. but I've run into a hick up. What I want to write doesn't really mesh with the Harry Potter world and I have no interest in writing Hanson fan fictions anymore... or fanfictions at all really.... which just leaves original fiction and that scares the crap out of me.

I've been writing fanfiction, in one way or another, since I was 13... that's 17 years... and because I was writing fanfiction there was always an audience to read it. (Granted, the last few years I spent writing Hanson fanfiction, there weren't a lot of readers... but there were still a handful of them.) So the idea of striking out with no guarantee that people will like what I write kind of scares me.

One of my goals for 2016 was to do something that scares me.... but I'm not sure I'm ready for this level of scary.

That said... as I sit here debating with myself, I can't help but think about what type of story I would write. The goal to is romance and probably something sports related, because those are my favorite. I love cowboy romances, but I don't know enough about cowboys to write anything like that, but I love sports. They'd probably be clean romances as well, because as fun as sexy scenes can be, they are a pain in the ass to write and would limit the audience I'd sell to...

It would be fun to write a Oregon-based sports series with characters that revolve around each other and show up in the books before and after their romances. Those types of series are always my favorite.

Something to think about I guess...
