Seventeen - after ten months, he could finally say that he was a brand new person. Ryutaro could now say, “I was sixteen and stupid. I’m seventeen now and much wiser.” Not that he really had anyone to say these things too, but if he needed to, he could.

It didn’t really matter, anyway. The person he wanted to spend his birthday with, more than anything else, loved him through and through.

Ryutaro stood in the midst of Tokyo’s everyday human traffic, moving and shuffling his feet in half-circles and organic shapes. He didn’t have his music with him, in case he missed Keito calling his name - the same went for his DS - so to patiently wait was all he could do.

In his turning, he failed to dodge a boy walking straight into him. “I’m sorry - I’m so sorry.” He apologized as he stumbled to catch his own balance. “I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

The boy laughed, brushing off what invisible dirt was on him. “It’s okay - really.” And then his glance moved to the side and this really goofy smile crossed over his face. “Neither was I.”

The boy walked away and Ryutaro followed him with his eyes. He walked straight into the hands of a taller, slim older man who smiled down on him. The boy smiled and his lover smiled back at him - and they did this for many moments before they decided they should move.

Ryutaro smiled at them. How nice, their love must be. Even across ages, simply looking and holding hands could lift them off their feet. He wondered if that’s what Keito and his love was like - it certainly was on his part.

He swayed his leg around and looked up across the busy road. Ryutaro saw familiar spikes of hair and felt his cheeks rise even further up. He stretched his hands up way over his head and waved it side to side. He was making a spectacle of himself to anybody who passed by, but who cared - Keito needed to notice him.

He watched with a bit of amusement as Keito weaved in and out of the crowd of people between them. When a clearing came, Keito took it and charged right at him.

He looked up at the guitarist, happy beyond happy. “Hey Kei-”

That was all he got out before calloused hands turned his face upwards and Keito's lips were planted on his. It was shocking, yes, but Ryutaro was all too eager to respond to this kiss - especially when it was this passionate.

He felt Keito's hands running over his body and he wondered in the back of his mind if in their short meetings, had Keito noticed? Noticed that he was trying to quit? Noticed that he had put all his stress and tension back into dancing and working out? Did Keito notice how much he changed? Did he like it? The thoughts at first raced through his mind but as oxygen was used more and more they all blended into a lusty haze that, in all reality, was leaving Ryutaro a little light-headed.

He basically fell out of the kiss, hands tight around the lapels of Keito's jacket. He was gasping, heaving, and panting to get his breath back and above all that - he hears Keito laughing. He turned his eyes up to him and Keito would only smile.

"Happy Birthday." He said.

Ryutaro had to chuckle back. "Happy," He breathed in, "Birthday." He said.

Neither knew who was giving or receiving.
