Yay for Prop 8 being overturned!

Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.

Yeah, kirizal and voidmonster and emily_jiang and elsmi and I were all sitting around together watching for news.

And, yes, this is only a start; it's not enough. I don't see how anything less than blanket legal acknowledgment that people don't have to be straight and/or cis to count fully as people, and that trying to dehumanize anyone is criminal, will be enough.

While we have to fight for that, though, we will.
