sorry for not responding to previous comments, I have a miserable cold and am v wheezy. Which kept me up too late last night. Today I feel hungover
Wanted to say though, I really appreciate the support and encouragement - I don't think I could do this without you guys :)
And! Progress! And pics taken (barely) in daylight, which is now mostly gone.
I'm going to have to adjust some of the bits right around the central image; note how right now the bit just outside its top left is much busier than the bottom left. But, will adjust that after I've done the whole.
And a closeup of less lonesome ellyphant, who now has vine friends:
