so this cortisol tapering thing...

Oct 18, 2011 10:40

When I went down to 20mg of the exogenous cortisol, after the adjustment period I was feeling better than before. That took about 10 days.

It's been nearly a month since I dropped to the 15mg. I am not as splatty as I was the first week, true. But. I'm having a lot of trouble doing anything, I'm using the cane more days than not, I'm having trouble with cognitive focus, my asthma may be worse, I've gotten colds twice in that last almost-month, I'm not wanting to eat, my weight's dropped 10-12 pounds (it'd have to drop another 10 to be something to be concerned about in and of itself, but the change is worrisome), and I am having the sudden temperature drops that I had before the diagnosis/treatment.

So, in some ways I'm back to where I was in Oct/Nov last year.

I see the endocrinologist next Monday. I'm going to try sticking it out till then. Maybe it just needs a little more time, and if not, I'll go back on a higher dose in time for WFC.

But if that's what I have to do, then... well the hope has been that my body will start making some more of its own, but if it's just not, then it becomes more likely that some level of this condition is permanent. Which I haven't been wanting to consider.

*argh flail*
