Some of these are things I missed, or wasn't up to posting about, over the last bit. (I must have picked up a cold on Weds, and Fri through Mon were pretty bad. I may be better today, but I'm continuing to take it OFF in hopes of being up to Scalzi's clarion-instructor-reading tomorrow. Also, y'know, not spending months sick.)
1)
Jabberwocky 6, the first online issue, is up! And it contains
rose_lemberg's wonderful story,
A Mother Goes Between. (Trigger warning though -- this is not an easy story. And if you suspect from the first three paragraphs that it'll be triggery for you, it probably will.)
2) My poem,
Homebound, is up at Strange Horizons!
3) On the subject of Strange Horizons, I want to point folks who haven't seen it yet at the following example of Doin It Rite, in responding to being called out on Fail.
Here is the official SH response, with links to the call-outs and to
csecooney's author-response (which is also Doin It Rite).
We see so many examples of defensiveness and adding-to-the-hurt in response to call-outs, so I just want to hang neon lights on these as counterexamples, to say LOOK IT CAN BE DONE and things can actually get better. (Though I haven't seen a response from Podcastle, and that bothers me.)
4) Back to poetry!
asakiyume is holding a
giveaway of two Mythic Delirium issues based on a very fun contest -- can you tell which poems are by
seajules and which by Theodora Goss? :)
5) And! Another very cool thing, this one on the subject of different Englishes:
Engliss Only, Pliss, a new tumblr that shares stories of the intersections of language/race/colonization.
I'm sure I've forgotten stuff but so it goes. Happy Tuesday!
