The Wandering Camper

The Wandering Camper camps because they love being outdoors, being as close to nature as possible, and feeling an unfiltered connection to the area.

These people seek out a physical challenge. They enjoy long hikes, swimming in unknown lakes and isolated areas of rivers, and staking out a dry wash in the desert. Packing light allows them the freedom to move around a bit. One week spent camping is likely to find them pitching their tent in multiple places, as opposed to camping in the same place every night. They prefer isolated areas, but are generally compatible with others camping nearby, as they share an appreciation for life off the beaten path.

The Wandering Camper spends as little time as possible in camp. They may value a good campfire at night, but are just as likely to be crawling into their tent early so they can make the most of the next day.

These campers find beauty and fun in locations that are under the radar of most other campers. They have no problem skipping a bath or two if facilites are not available, and are perfectly content to be the only ones in the areas they explore.

When the Wandering Camper does make use of campsites, they pitch their tent, but wander themselves, spending a great deal of time doing whatever it is that brings people to the main attraction in the area.

The great thing about the Wandering Camper is that they can tell you about spots you will not read about in travel magazines, and may be familiar with areas even the rangers know little about.

Wandering Campers usually have a deep respect for the area, and are careful to extinguish their campfires, and take what little trash they generate with them when they leave.
