Re-enactment of drama @ AFA Day 2 Cosplay Mania
Those who were waiting for cosplay mania event to start on Sunday's AFA would have heard/saw the drama that went on but didn't know the full details. Me and bellisharon were right behind/beside the the couple that stirred it up so we saw and heard everything that went on. Details as below, some details did occur but sequence may be incorrect.
When the prize award ceremoney for Mangaka ended at about 1315hrs, the standing crowd started moving to the front in order to get a good view of the cosplay competition that was coming up at 1330hrs. We managed to get spots next to the chairs. Suddenly, the people in front started sitting down and like a domino effect, so was the people behind. We and a couple were the last 4 still standing in our area. If we sat down, the standing couple would be blocking our view but we sat down too, leaving the 2 of them the only ones still standing. Initially, we thought they didn't notice that everyone around them were sitting or thought when the compeition started, the others would stand up.
After a while, I heard the group of guys sitting behind us muttering "don't know what name". They asked us to ask the standing couple to sit down. Discussing between the 2 of us, we didn't know whether did we have the right to since there were no rules stating that they couldn't stand up so we didn't ask them to sit down. Seeing we had no action, the guys behind called out to the guy in Silkroad Online t-shirt and asked them to sit down. The female shouted at them "YOU STAND UP LAH!". We were quite stunned at her reaction. It became clear from then that they had no intention to sit down at all. I managed to shift to slightly beside them so the female was no longer blocking my entire view.
Subsequently, after a few minutes, 2 girls came up to them and requested them to sit down as they were blocking the view of those sitting behind them. The couple still wouldn't sit down. As the 2 girls were trying to talk sense into the couple, a 3rd girl came up. Things started getting heated up. The couple said that they had been there for an hour, the girl(s?) also said she'd/they'd also been there for an hour. The female said there were no rules indicating they couldn't stand up. Whatever reasoning the 3 girls tried to talk them into sitting down just wouldn't work. The 3rd girl asked the people at the back whether were they going to let the couple have it their way then went to the front and told one of the staff. The staff signalled for the couple to sit down but still they wouldn't. The staff then went away(perhaps to get help).
The 3 girls went back to their seats. The couple, ignoring the stares and pointing from the people around, still continued standing. The emcee then made announcement to people not to block the way for ushers and also specifically pointed out about the 2 standing people. As of then, people were cheering but still, they made no indication that they were going to sit down and just dumbly stood there. A staff, who seemed to be part of security/usher, again signalled for them to sit down. This time, the guy went to the front and talked to the staff. After exchanging a few sentences, the guy finally decided to leave. The female also left but not without pushing away the standing crowd while paving her way out.
