You really know you are a true Brit when you sit outside in the British sun for at least 30 minutes and turn red! Heehee
16th June went to London for 3 days with Charlotte and Donna. Had a great time, although Donna was quiet and as miserable as sin, but hey ho, didn't let it bring me down, neither did Charlotte. We stayed in a Travel Lodge in Covent Garden. We got there about 5pm and went straight out, had a wander around Covent Garden and found a little pub on the way to Leicester Square. We some how managed up walking around the seedy part of Soho, seriously, Sex shops galore. Charlotte decides to take us into a bar, which at first i thought looked a bit over the top - dark passage with blue tinkly lights and Greek type statues. There are no women there, only men. Turns out we walked into a Gay bar. It was nifty! Such a comfortable atmosphere, not intimidating at all. So after that we found somewhere to go eat and then headed back to the Travel Lodge, quite giddy, this is about 11pm, we crack open a bottle of wine and get even more giddy. The nob heads in the next room start banging on the wall! How rude!!! ??? We weren't being that loud :)
Got up early next day and headed to Camden Market, love that place, i could have stayed there all day. Had some lunch and some beverages and then had my feet nibbled by little fish. Bizarre sensation, like lots of little bubbles vibrating against my feet. After we headed to Marble Arch to see what was happening at the big New Look, not that much it turns out. Not as big as i thought, the one we have in Meadowhell is much more impressive. As for the selection of shoes, crap!!
That night we went for some grub and then to see Wicked. Oh my life it was amazing! I cried and laughed and held my breath. I love musicals, and i had actually forgot how much of an affect they have on me. I miss that life, i really should have taken my performing arts/acting further, i think i just got it into my head that they didn't go for the big girls. Arrr well.
After Wicked we hunted down a bar that was open until after 11pm! It wasn't that easy. Found a place called Guarrabar (poss spelling) It was pretty nifty, lots of Corona and some Brazilian music. Good times. Then we went back to the Lodge, ordered pizza and got giddy again,.
Had a lay in on the last day, got our stuff packed up and headed out into Covent Garden, had some grub and then headed to Victoria for our coach.
I could have stayed longer but clearly it would have broke the bank. Arrr well, will def be going back soon. I miss my trips to London, i used to go a lot when i was in College.
I did a 7 day work week last week. My god it killed me! I caught the sun on 20th when i did the Race for Life (took me 1 hour walking very fast, raised a good bit of money too) and the sun wiped me out, i was so tired on my first day back at work. Then i had crap 'afters' shifts. Then my mum hurt her back and couldn't move, dad was in Germany on work, so when i wasn't working i was up at mums helping her out!!!
I have some time off next week for my birthday, and i am sooooo lucking forward to it. Think a trip to Alton Towers will be enjoyed and also a night out to celebrate getting 1 year older.
