It's dark in the club, but there's no mistaking the lithe form that presses to Mark's body as he leans up against the wall. "Chris?" Laughing, Mark checks the younger man's breath for the telltale scent of alcohol, but Chris is completely sober- just enthusiastic. His lips twist into a smirk as his hands settle on Mark's waist.
"Why the hell aren't you dancing?" Chris whines, attempting to tug him forward, but Mark keeps his back firmly to the wall, still laughing at the teenager's indignation. "Why aren't you dancing?" he responds, catching one of Chris' hands in his own and spinning him. The motion leaves Chris breathless, flushed and grinning as he stumbles even closer to Mark, pressing helplessly to the older man's chest.
Suddenly, the air between them seems to grow thick, stifling. Their eyes are locked on one another but neither man can move away, can bear the thought of putting even an inch of space between them, and as Chris' hands slide along Mark's sides he feels the older man's arms wrap around him, protective and possessive and wanting.
"I thought-" Chris pauses, swallows, and it takes Mark's brain a moment to catch up, to realize that Chris is actually answering his question, though he feels like no number of words will be able to explain this situation they've found themselves in (much as they may have seen it coming, Mark can pretend, and deny, but). "Thought I'd come keep you company."
The slightest shift of Chris' hips against his own and he can feel the press of- evidence, proof that this has gone much too far and knowledge that Mark won't stop until it's gone much, much further.
He doesn't think, just dips his head to press a kiss to Chris' neck, jaw, the corner of his mouth, hesitating only a fraction of a second before capturing the younger man's lips beneath his own, hungry and careful and impossibly sweet.
There's nothing that can be said when they pull apart, matching expressions of wonder and confusion painted across their features. But then Chris smiles, takes his hand and leads him out onto the dance floor, and Mark knows everything is going to be okay.
