What is up with all these people posting on Livejournal? This place has been a ghost town for at least 6 months. Perhaps I will start posting again, too.

This past weekend was pretty crazy. God decided to dump 2 feet of snow on the Pittsburgh area, leaving many people without power for about 24 hours.

At about 8:30 am Saturday I woke up to the power going out. I had no idea if the buses were running, or if I could even get to work. I called and they said the power was out there also.

My dad was supposed to pick me up, so I spent most of the day laying in bed reading. He called me around 3:00pm to tell me that the Turnpike was blocked off and he had to turn back. That's when shit got real.

I started calling people looking for a place to stay. Everyone said they were snowed and couldn't help.

I ended up calling the Borough's main office number asking them what I should do. They took my name and address and told me they were going to have someone call me. Instead, they sent a firetruck to my house. I packed up a few clothes and books and headed out with them.

First we went into Braddock, but both shelters there were closed. Then they took me into Swissvale. They brought me to the city's administrative building, which apparently was like a waystation for people. I ended up playing Yahtzee with a couple of 20-somethings that were in the same boat as I was.

From the administrative building they took us to a church off of Monongahela. I spent the evening playing board games and talking with the people I had made friends with at the administrative building.

As the night went on I got called a douchebag by a ten-year-old girl, ate a bunch of free subs and pizza and sat around in the dark for an hour when the lights went out at the church. Around 4am I went to sleep and got about 2 hours of sleep. In the morning they said the power was back on and they took everyone home.

Now god is preparing to fuck us with another 10 inches of his snowy cock. I am packing up some clothes and heading over to friend's house on the Northside. Wish me luck.
