Funniest CC error ever!

So, I'm watching Jake 2.0, which I'm finding mildly entertaining until we get SG-1 back again. I paused and rolled Tivo back because Jake was getting all hardass on a bunch of black-ops military guys. (Which is amusing in and of itself because Jake, while cute in a very young, geeky way, is a tall scrawny dude with no discernable mass.) He called them 'sorority bitches' and I wanted to be sure that was what I heard because Jake is usually a fairly mild mannered guy. and I find it hot when ordinarily mild-mannered guys cuss

For those who don't know, who are probably most of you, Jake Foley is an IT geek who accidently got infected with experimental nanites, giving him some super-cool nifty powers. Enhanced senses and strength (ala the Six Million Dollar Man, which is sort of a running joke on the show). He worked for the NSA when it happened, so they've advanced him to field agent, but he's not really trained as an agent, so he's now getting their version of on-the-job training. It's an interesting scenario. And he can hack any electronic device from across the room.

Anyway, the head guy puts Jake in a chokehold and tells this buddy "Get my E tool", by which he means the folding shovel.

What does Closed Captioning read? "Get my Eat You" Bwah! I laughed so hard my dog thought I was having a seizure or something. And 'Eat You' was capitalized exactly like that.

I've seen dozens of CC errors, but this one was the funniest ever. The other thing I'm finding amusing is that they've been trying to add sound effects to the CC. Stuff like "Sweeping instrumental music" and "thwap" and other similar comic book sounding terms. I appreciate the effort, but it's highly entertaining at times. I'm not hard of hearing, but sometimes dialog is a bit muddled and it's nice to know what was intended.

In the next episode, Jake (I keep typing Jack, in error) finally asks the question I've wondered since I started watching this show a couple of weeks ago. What about sex? This turns into an awkward conversation with his doctor, a woman who was researching the nanites before he was infected. True to type, she's a plucky brunette and Jake has unrequited feelings for a blonde college friend. Anyway, it's the cute brunette doctor that he has to ask this question of. They were pretty much talking about him infecting a sex partner with the nanites. There's UST aplenty between Jake and doc, and he's charmingly awkward around women he's attracted to.

So, Doc's answer is that she thinks it would be okay, but says she'd have to do some tests to be sure. Jake's like, oh, okay and puts on his shirt, figuring the exam is over. She turns to him and hands him a plastic cup. About the size of a beer cup. At first, I thought she was asking for a urine sample, but after rewinding and rewatching... no. She needed a semen sample from him and sent him off to the bathroom. Jake's partner comes into the lab a moment later and asks, "What's up with Jake?" Pretty brunette doctor just grins.

So yeah, it's a bit cliche, but I'm enjoying it. But the kid is a fair actor and is constantly put into situations he's not really prepared for. And he's getting harder fairly quickly. In the same ep as the 'Eat You' thing, he actually shot his partner to keep from blowing his cover. But he honestly looked like he was going to cry in the closing scene while he was visiting said partner in the hospital. Finally, the head of their unit is a kick-ass woman of color named Lou. She really plays a strong woman well. We got backstory on her in that same ep. Her old buddy was General Vidrine from Stargate, except he was General Someone Else.

Also David Nykl, who plays Radek Zalenka on Atlantis, played a ruthless hitman type in the episode before the military one. I was like "Oh! It's Zalenka!" except he really was pretty convincing as the ruthless hitman.

See, this really is why I love watching anything made in Vancouver. You see the same actors over and over again. The actor who was Makepeace was a bad guy in yet another ep.

I'll probably be in bed soon since I'm going into work tomorrow. So much stuff to do and so little time to get it done. But hey, overtime is a wonderful thing. Also, I may have a date tomorrow night. Blind date sort of thing, but I've seen a picture, so... not entirely blind. It'll be a casual thing, not the sort of thing where I have dress up or anything. Low key.

I've been really tired the last couple of days. I went to bed at 9 last night, which is unheard of for me and when I got home from work at about 2:30, I immediately laid down on the couch, trying to watch The 4400 but fell asleep almost immediately and slept until after 4. I was so tired that my stomach was upset. Don't know what's up with that, but I feel fine otherwise. Working even more overtime probably won't help that, but... whatever.
