Dem Congresswoman Assassinated!
I'm appalled and enraged to hear that Arizona Democratic Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords has been assassinated at a Congress On the Corner event in Tucson, AZ has been shot in an assassination attempt.
At this moment, there is confusion as to whether she is dead or in surgery, but since all reports say she's been shot in the head, it's doubtful she will survive.
From what I'm hearing, she was a centrist, Blue Dog Democrat, but whatever side of the political fence you stand on, assassination of a member of Congress is extremely disturbing.
This country has simply gone down the road to Hell with the partisanship and hate-mongering. Sure, both sides have been hateful, but I call out the GOP, the Tea Party and the Far Right for hate-mongering far more extremely than the far left.
I'm beside myself with outrage.
I found out about the assassination from my CNN feed on Twitter.
ETA: Edited for CNN Update. I'm happy to report that the Congresswoman has survived surgery and her surgeon has an 'optimistic' prognosis.
