I made it!

I survived another week. Actually, it wasn't too bad. A definate improvement on the couple of weeks that came before.

Some people are still freaking over the proposed departmental changes, but most of it has settled down. My friend D got royally screwed over and she's been a bit upset about that. I don't blame her, I would be too. The thing that's disappointing is that the people who got promotions are slackers and don't seem able to work the same hours as everyone else. One isn't a strong leader at all. D should have had that position. She's got the personality, strength and maturity to be a leader. She has a way of gently chastising people that seems effective.

I'm really not in line for anything and though I would like to have a 'Senior' added to my title, it wouldn't change anything except for my salary. D and I would have restructured things differently, but isn't that always the case? Our view is from the trenches rather from the 'big picture' POV. But we do know the people we work with and know best how to deal with them. Hey, everyone has quirks. I know I do.

I've had really knarly data problems to work out the last couple of days. It pretty much took all my attention, but I pwned the data in the end so I left for the week happy.

Yes! I have tomorrow off! I have fic running through my brain and I'm anxious to work on it. My sd_ficathon piece, of course, and a little something for myself. Already I seem able to switch back and forth between them with little difficulty, which pleases me. They're two different fandoms and I've always considered myself a one-fandom gal.

I basically have all the plot points of the S/D piece worked out. The devil is in the details. Boy, is he ;)

Oh! Jim Butcher, the author of The Dresden Files books (which spawned the TV series) is going to be in Colorado Springs for a book signing on April 19th. I'm going to make the trip. I put in for a full day of vacation on the 19th, but it's not going to happen. There's no one else to do the data thing and it's a check run day. So I'll probably make it a half day and take off for the Springs at lunch. The signing isn't until the evening, but traffic can make the trip hellish. It might be fun to take a disposable camera and take a few shots of the *real* Colorado Springs for Stargate fans. It's changed a *lot* from 10 years ago when the show started.

Any other Dresden fans are welcome to email me if there's something particular you'd like signed. I don't want to walk up with a ginormous stack of stuff (if I'd even be allowed - I don't know what the policies are going to be yet), but if you've got your heart set on something, let me know.

Time to fly - Fic calls!

fic, work
