While I’m thinking about it, I do have another interesting Halloween story. Every other year instead of going trick-or-treating I would stay home and help out scaring kids; which would usually involve something like sitting behind a table full of jack-o-lanterns with a jack-o-lantern mask on so people would think I was just think I was a jack-o-lantern with its candles blown out and then I would scare them when they got close. Usually the parents were more interested in jack-o-lanterns, so with this in particular example I would scare parents more than children. But, one year I put glow in the dark face paint on and went up into the tree house. I was dressed as a witch and I would cackle really loud. On the side of the road was a bucket of candy, not trick-or-treat size mini candies, but full candy bars. I would tell the kids in rhyme to come and get the treats, but every group of children that came by was too scared. The entire night the only group of children that took any candy from the bucket was a group of teenage boys that took a couple handfuls each. Years later trick-or-treaters would still come to our door and ask if the scary witch still lived there. Some parents ever said that their kids would never walk on that side of the street when they pasted my house.
