The state university system has a writing skills test every newly admitted student has to take to prove minimum writing competency skills. I took the test a couple of weeks ago.
I got the results today: I did not pass.
30+ years of experience communicating in the written form of English; all AP English classes in middle and high school; more college classes than any one person should have (which is also causing me grief trying to get this degree); 2 years of writing research papers at the graduate level; ellipsis, ellipsis, ellipsis.
Furious does not begin to cover my state of mind.
Luckily, there is a third option not mentioned in the results email, beyond re-paying for and re-taking the test or taking an English skills class. There is an appeal process and I have initiated it. By luckily, I mean for them, not me.
